Olive Juice ❤️🏳️‍🌈

I feel like it's hard to put into words how much seeing Girls Like Girls this summer has changed my life. I seriously cannot get over it. I haven't had a movie affect me like this before.

This movie brought me back to the summer of 2015. It brought me back to being 17 years old and sitting on my mom's bed and scrolling on Tumblr and coming across Hayley's music video for Girls Like Girls and crying because I never thought I would see something like this.

Hayley, when I say you changed my life, I mean it. I do not know what my life would look like without seeing that music video and then every music video after that. You have impacted my life in the most beautiful way. You have made me feel so seen in everything you have done. It has been one of the greatest honors to be on this journey with you and see everything you have accomplished. I feel so proud and I cannot wait to see what you do next. Hayley, I cannot thank you enough for absolutely everything.

@hayleykiyoko

Maya, thank you for bringing Coley to life and allowing not only me, but so many others to see ourselves on the big screen. Thank you for everything you put into this film to bring Coley to life. It feels surreal being able to see a character like Coley on the big screen. I feel so seen. I was brought back to feeling what she was feeling and being scared and worried and trying to figure out who I was and where I fit into this world. It's something I never thought I would see. I still cannot believe it's real. I cannot thank you enough for being the most perfect Coley and bringing me back to my 17 year old self. Maya, thank you thank you thank you.

@maya_da_costa_

Myra, thank you for bringing Sonya to life in the most beautiful way. Seeing a character like Sonya on the big screen is a very cathartic experience. I was brought back to when I was struggling with my own sexuality. I felt what she felt and I was scared how she was scared. I was brought back to those exact moments in my life. Actually seeing this in a film is so beautiful to witness. I know seeing this movie when I was younger would've helped me so much. Myra, thank you for allowing me to heal a part of m

We jokingly asked, "Hayley, when are you gonna visit?" on our story a couple of weeks ago...and somehow the universe (and her wonderful friend Samantha @stopsamitime ) made it happen.

We started Fan Girl to celebrate artists who make a difference through their art, and @hayleykiyoko you're one of them. Thank you for creating @girlslikegirlsfilm and continuing to tell stories that make our community feel seen.

P.S. If a Girls Like Girls movie night happened at Fan Girl, you'd be there... right?

Brimming with pride for @hayleykiyoko and everyone involved in @girlslikegirlsfilm. I remember clearly my first meeting with Hayley about GLG almost 5 years ago. It is astonishingly rare to meet an artist with so much conviction, such a clear purpose and mission, and the determination to do anything for however long it takes to make it happen. It was very hard but we did it and I’m so proud. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this film happen and @ellemompz for being our fearless guardian and guide at all times. We made the movie almost 2 years ago and though the days were filled with countless challenges (heatwaves, forest fires, literal bears) the experience has already fittingly phased into sunlit infused memories amongst the trees.

Go see Girls Like Girls this weekend! ☀️ How we show up in the next couple days will make the largest impact in the box office! 🎟️🎬

This is our time to show Hollywood how much Lesbian and Sapphic-led stories matter. This film is exceptional, and also a cultural movement for our representation.

From all our shows getting cancelled off platforms in the past few years to the current state of the country censoring our voices and stripping our rights away — Showing up for this film is important now more than ever.

Girls like Girls has so much to offer and be impacted by, even if you may not identify as Sapphic, allies. 🙂‍↕️

If there’s one thing I wish for Pride Month, it’s for everyone to show up and show out for this film!

Pride Month matters because the LGBTQIA+ community, especially Transgender community right now, are still fighting to be seen and simply exist. And, this film just made history in doing so for the Sapphic community, which can open more doors for various other films with representation.

How we show up today and early this week will also help determine for how long this important film will get to stay in major theaters to experience! And, to potentially extend to more countries! I love seeing the waves of us sapphics already selling out showtimes, which of course. ☺️❤️🌈

Please, go let your friends know!!! 🫶🏽

When I found out I was going to have the chance to work on additional photography with @hayleykiyoko on her feature debut, @girlslikegirlsfilm , I started to read the book to familiarize myself with the story, the journey and prepare for what came next. I’m so glad I got to be a part of it even if it was just one day in studio and three days running around LA with Hayley and @sonjatsypin grabbing inserts or saving them from coyotes.

I absolutely loved the film just as much as I did working on it!! #girlslikegirlsfilm

Feeling beyond grateful! I have been fortunate enough to work alongside Hayley, creatively for the last decade. When she asked me to come on board as an associate producer for this film, my immediate response was “I’ve never done that, what if I mess it up?” I think she giggled when I asked that.

She always believes in me + encourages me to reach higher, think bigger. It’s what she does. Constantly going out of her way to champion people in her community, minorities and women in general. I will forever be thankful for that.

I have watched her work day in and day out to make art that will inspire and uplift people. She doesn’t do it for recognition, status or financial gain. She does it because she genuinely cares. I believe thats why it resonates with so many people..it comes from a genuine place. Through every obstacle (trust me there have been too many) she’s has stayed true to herself and hasn’t let it affect her heart.

Everyone that has been a part of this project knows how much this was a labor of pure love. I hope you can experience a little bit of that love today and go watch our film.

@girlslikegirlsfilm is out now in theaters!!! 🎉🌈🫒☀️

How to tell my younger self that the song and music video that showed me being lesbian is a reality and ok…that quite literally awakened who I was is now a theatrical release 10 years later showing across the country…. I have wholeheartedly loved being a part of the street team to promote this film.

I’ve had the pleasure to attend the LA Premiere this past weekend. It was surreal to witness a lesbian film…THE LESBIAN FILM all-out promoted for its premiere at one of Hollywood’s biggest theaters. I’m so thankful to have been invited to the space to celebrate the film and its artists.

@hayleykiyoko Congrats on this big day 🎉😄 and thank you for your strides in the industry, I know it wasn’t easy. It’s beyond inspiring as a filmmaker. Thank you for making me and so many others feel seen across a decade. To all be here now for this is something so special. Your vision with the film is deeply resonating that will remain timeless.

@girlslikegirlsfilm is a film made by us, for us. It’s WHAT WE DESERVE. It authentically represents THE DETAILS in falling in love as a lesbian, and how unique that experience can be for our community. And, so much more! It includes themes around finding self-worth, as well as navigating grief. A perfectly crafted coming-of-age film by each department. 👏🏽

Taking place in 2006, shot on film, this film transports us back to the early 2000s, and all the feels that comes with that. It’s nostalgic, truly heartfelt, and refreshingly grounded with its tone.

Swipe to read how each character impacted me ❤️Congrats and thank you @maya_da_costa_ @myramolloy 🎉 Exceptional performances. These two are going places!

🚨 STAY UNTIL AFTER CREDITS 🚨 TRUST. Ending scene you don’t want to miss! ❤️

Hollywood is long-overdue for first-time rep with two Lesbian Asian leads in a romance theatrical release. We need more Sapphic and POC characters front and center in theaters. We aren’t “niche”. Each demographic is large and we’re long overdue for that rep. Go support the actors and filmmakers!

GIRLS LIKE GIRLS is in theaters tonight. Having the opportunity to work on this and support @hayleykiyoko was an incredible experience. Hayley worked so hard and sacrificed so much for this project over the last decade and put her heart and soul into the entire process. It was scrappy and DIY and had such little resources and yet she sprinkled her magic on it and brought it to life and full bloom. It was an honor to play a small part in filling out her vision. Beautiful score by @jessicaroseweiss and endless love and support along the way from @mallratbrodie95. Congrats to the entire team. Watch the movie in theaters, buy the soundtrack on vinyl. Happy Pride to all of our friends out there and congrats to the one and only @hayleykiyoko.
