The Eleven Days of Living, Learning and Building in the Kullu Valley • Himachal
🌞10–20 October 2026🌞

This October, for the first time, we’re opening NORTH up in this way by inviting a small group to live, learn and build alongside us for eleven days. It is the only edition of The Eleven Days we’re opening this year, and the closest we’ve come to sharing the full breadth of how we work and live.

WHAT YOU’LL BUILD

Over eleven days, a deliberately small circle of people from different creative and professional worlds will work alongside local craftspeople to raise a real stone-and-wood sauna at Aeja.

The building becomes a way of thinking: joinery, stone, slate and heat reveal how generations here solved for climate, material and place, and invite you to question how you approach problems in your own field.

Around the work, perspectives cross between craftspeople, architects, designers, makers and people whose practice may be far from your own. You leave with knowledge you can carry anywhere, a renewed way of seeing what you already know, and a circle of people you may keep learning and building with long after the eleven days end.

Our last day lands just as Kullu’s own Dussehra begins. Witness the valley’s biggest gathering folded into your journey.

The Eleven Days is application-based. We are keeping this edition deliberately intimate.

APPLY THROUGH THE LINK IN BIO.

Applications close in the first week of September.

Comment “TAKE ME THERE” and we’ll share a direct contact to connect with a member of our team.

📚A quiet corner of Shimla, where the “Rickshaw Shed and Labour Hostel, 1943” still watches the hill town hustle by. In the evening smoke of warm peanuts and the steady hands that weigh them, the everyday histories of workers linger—unseen, but never absent.

🏔️Under the soft Kashmiri sky, the weeping willow leans over the water like a quiet storyteller, its branches sketching old memories into the evening light. Each falling leaf feels like a whispered secret from the valley, reminding that even in stillness, Kashmir is always in motion—breathing, mourning, healing, and hoping.

Leaving less carbon footprint our property is built thoughtfully with nature in mind. This structure has no iron and cement columns and beams but instead follows the kath kunni style of architecture. The mud blocks were made in house with our skilled labours and mud plaster was done by the local artisans from pin valley. The paint is also naturally sources mud from dhankar village in spiti valley ,leaving a unique colour which is pleasant to ones eyes. The combination of wood beams and mud walls is an example of architecture followed across Himalayas. Here we have blended both the styles and created something new and vernacular.

In the heart of Kasol, Himachal Pradesh, this mountain home blurs the line between indoors and the Himalayas outside. A space designed to breathe with light, stone, and serenity — where architecture becomes part of the landscape.” ✨

We often look at others' lives and think, “Maybe they have it better.” The city lights seem shinier, the jobs more respectable, the lifestyle more ‘advanced’. That’s what Amma used to believe too — living in her quiet village home, surrounded by fields and forest, but always feeling like something was missing.

Like many, she thought real success was somewhere far away — in Chandigarh or Manali, in city jobs, in concrete homes. She wanted her children to “escape” village life — for better pay, bigger dreams, more “status”.

But then something shifted.
Her children did go to the cities. They experienced that race. The noise, the pollution, the pressure. And slowly, they began to long for the life they had left behind — a life where they could breathe, grow food with their own hands, eat together, and be present.

They came back. Not in defeat — but in wisdom.
And that’s when Amma began to see it too: this simple life wasn’t something to escape from — it was something to come home to.

Through our small efforts at Place of Possibilities projects, we shared appreciation, stories, and slow afternoons with Amma and her family. And somewhere in that quiet rhythm of sowing and cooking and just being, a new understanding took root.

Today, her family lives together — not because they had no other choice, but because they chose this life. A life with less noise, less anger, less suffocation… but more togetherness, more meaning, more breath.

We’re all seeking contentment. But sometimes, it’s not ahead of us.
It’s around us. Within us. In the soil, in the silence, in the scent of food cooking slowly on a wood fire.

Thank you so much for the love you’ve shown on the Sukoonbaag video featured on the ‘Story and Structure’ YouTube channel.
Hearing that people feel inspired after watching it truly means the world — it feels like the purpose behind all our efforts has been fulfilled.

It hasn’t always been easy; we’ve faced our share of challenges, but we’ve always worked with heart and intention to create something meaningful.

Here’s a small glimpse from the video — do take a moment to watch and share your thoughts. Your support means everything.
