On the back of summer I sat down with the incredible @annikatrost for her awesome podcast @strangersoftheearth

And what an absolute joy it was, she was! Thank you so much for having me!

The campus and set up was incredible at @iowastateu

We spoke about, family, unique gifts, travel, my journey to America and so much more.

I’ll stick the link in the comments for anyone who has an hour that they will never get back 🤣

7137. “It’s all about culture and passionate life stories…like my friend loves music and he’s writing an album, so we did a podcast about that, and my other friend lived on a submarine this summer, so I’m gonna have him on...”
-
This April, Annika Trost started her podcast, @strangersoftheearth, because she loves hearing people’s stories, asking questions like, “What is the most unique thing about you?” It’s no surprise she’s now studying Journalism & Communications at @iowastateu, but she took a winding path to get there.
-
The youngest of 4 siblings, Annika grew up in Iowa; however, “I also transferred here to Iowa State from a smaller state school. Then I also studied abroad for a semester, and I also lived in Chicago for a semester. So I’ve kind of been all over the past like 3 years.”
-
In each of these places, she’s collected friends who’ve impacted her life, and she’s still establishing new networks today! “I’m leading a small group for my student ministry, so that’s a huge one, just being able to disciple those girls. And then also, podcaster now, and Digital Media Studio Assistant. I work in here like 6 hours a week.”
-
Annika’s also getting ready to start an apprenticeship at @peopleinc (formerly Dotdash Meredith), so while she’ll be working remotely, she’s excited to build her NYC network - especially since she hopes to move there after school. And in between all of the responsibilities, she still finds the time to train for her upcoming half marathon!
-
In general, Annika takes pride in her roles as a sister, daughter, student, podcaster, etc; however, she knows these things are only possible ultimately through her faith! “I’m also a Christian so I would say my identity in Christ is like the biggest thing.” Awesome hanging with you, @annikatrost!
