We are so excited to have Dr. Jenny McAlister joining us for our upcoming discussion about what it really takes to build community.

A passionate Edmontonian, Jenny is a psychologist, entrepreneur, and community builder committed to creating spaces where people and communities can thrive. She is the founder of Strathearn Psychology, a group psychology practice providing counselling, training, and supervision while creating opportunities for the next generation of mental health professionals.

Jenny’s commitment to community extends well beyond her work in psychology. Since 2012, she has led the Strathearn Art Walk, helping grow the grassroots neighbourhood event into one of Edmonton’s largest free arts festivals, bringing together hundreds of artists, musicians, volunteers, and thousands of visitors each year.

An entrepreneur at heart, Jenny is also a partner in River Valley Company, supporting locally rooted hospitality businesses and the creation of gathering places that contribute to Edmonton’s river valley and surrounding communities. Across her work in psychology, business, education, governance, and the arts, Jenny is driven by a belief in the power of people, opportunity, and community to make Edmonton an even better place to live.

Holy moly, that @strathearnartwalk was quite the weekend!!! Our second year back proved to be just as wonderful as we remembered - you all showed us SO much love for our work, and we couldn’t be more grateful!!

Thank you for literally clearing us out of our frog vases, snail sculptures, floral olive dishes, moth mobiles and ornaments! Highlights definitely included seeing so many wonderful friends and vendors, meeting new faces (and doggos and babies), and hearing all your lovely compliments and words of encouragement. 🤗✨

We’re already looking forward to next year, and will be updating you with our holiday market schedule soon!

on sunday night, after we packed up our gear from the last day of the @strathearnartwalk and were waiting for the shuttle bus to take us back to my car, i looked to my left and saw that the lighting was just INCREDIBLE. i crossed the street to the top of the wooden stairs that lead down into the river valley, and snapped a photo of the downtown skyline peeking through the trees. and then i created this painting from that photo for the upcoming @sweetsixteenshow.
