A little tribute to my mom on Mother’s Day.

Today is my sixth Mother’s Day of being a motherless daughter. And somehow, at the very same time, I am the mother of 15-year-old twins.

Parenting without a mother can be incredibly challenging. There are still moments I look for you — for validation, guidance, support, a hug, reassurance that I’m doing okay. And over these last six years, I’ve had to learn how to find some of those things within myself. To trust my own knowing. To lean into the strength of the people closest to me. To believe that the love you gave me never actually left.

Yesterday, I got to walk with our girl from our house all the way to Butler’s Flat. We weren’t even sure if it was too early in the season to be open. The afternoon was magnificent. We laughed, soaked up the sun, and at some point it all felt like déjà vu. I felt so much like you in that moment. I looked so much like you in that moment. And I know you would have loved it too. I could feel your presence at the table.

Every day I think about you. I think about how our lives and our love were not lived in vain. I try every single day to engage in life in a way that makes both of us proud — you and me. I tell the kids all the time how important it is that the decisions they make allow them to feel proud of themselves.

I still believe the way you loved me and showed up for me has everything to do with how I show up for others now. It’s why I continue to be of service. Why I try to use my own pain and suffering to help others heal too. Somehow, that’s the only thing that makes sense of not having you here — to live in a way that allows your legacy to continue shining through me.

You were such a light in my life and in this world. And I like to think I carry a piece of that light forward.

That is my privilege.
My honor as your daughter.

Your life and your legacy are my tribute. 💛

“Jack Baxter•Joshua Faudem at the Al Mufti Cafe in The Old City” RED CORAL UNIVERSE presents PAX AMERICANA PRODUCTIONS, LLC Content

As I walked down to the closed Jaffa Gate I heard Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah so I got my IPhone to Joshua Faudem and here it is.

If I wasn’t wearing my shades you would have seen a flood of tears at how poignant this scene was for me.

“Now I’ve heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor falls, the major lifts The baffled king composing Hallelujah”
- Leonard Cohen

It's been a busy week but every moment has been worth it. Tonight we celebrated a special birthday, but it was also a reminder of how powerful our community is. Sometimes it’s not about telling stories or explaining anything — it’s just about being with people who understand, who show up, and who support one another simply by being there. Grateful for this community every day and the strength that grows when we stand together. From Strength to Strength. Happy Happy Birthday Shiri 🎂✨ We loved celebrating with you!!! @shiri_mirvis_art @thelastsermon @straussbaxter @michelle_hadad_designs @stosglobal @tikvot #strengthtostrength #communitymatters #strongertogether #resilience #family
