Back in 2023, @jamesstrazza was preparing a memorial art piece for International ME Awareness Day 2024.

Over the following months i helped him gathering pictures
of ME patients who'd had died. On May 12th 2024 he posted the memorial art piece on his instagram account.
Below the original post, James wrote:

«This piece, for international ME awareness day, May 12th, is intended to honor those we've lost from ME.

Featured on the top right: Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) was a British nurse considered the founder of modern nursing. It is now believed she had the first recorded case of ME, based on the symtpoms she developed after she caught Crimean Fever. Mostly bedridden for the remainder of her life, she still advocated for nurses and influenced hospital regulations, with government officials coming to her home. "International ME Awareness Day," is celebrated on her birthday, May 12th.

Featured on the left: Sophia Mirza was a young woman who died of severe ME in 2005. As the first recorded death from ME, "Severe ME Day" is recognized on her birthday, August 8.

Today on May 12th 2026, a week and a day after James died, i post an updated version of his memorial art piece to extend the purpose and meaning of the artwork -to honor those we've lost from ME- to its author by including him.

In honor of James and the many we've lost to this devastating disease.

Rest easy son, brother, friend, poet, musician, artist and caring soul.

Sending love to Galen, Marisa, John, Heather, Tim, Joy and to all of James' family and friends.

I've spent many years wandering around trying to connect to people and my camera has done the most to make that happen.
I have an exhibit coming soon and I've been going through my archives to curate the right set. Its a little hard to do because I've taken hundreds of thousands of photos, but it's worth it.
