✨The week was filled with new experiences. I finally got over the hump and started drinking high fat coffee, so good and creamy not sure why I was such a chicken about it… but as we say in Spanish, a huevo 🥚😅

But that wasn’t the only thing I did that was new for me. This week was filled with data collection. 📊

Insight on my body composition, my bone density, my resting metabolic rate at @liveleanrx it was a relaxing experience and happy to have a base measure for future tests.

My doctor recommends getting routine bloodwork 4x a year at each solstice and equinox. We measure biomarkers like vitamin D, leptin and A1C to name a few. The best part for me is as intentionally being in the metabolic state of Ketosis (not a diet) when I took all of my tests. ✅ I love using @ultalabtests

Another investment in myself was ordering a pair of @swanwick blue light blocking glasses. 👓 I wear them 2-3 hours before bedtime to help stabilize my melatonin production for a restful nights sleep. 💤

The big data set that took me a year to schedule is my VO2 max test. 🏃🏻‍♀️ This is where they hook you up to a mask while running on a treadmill to measure your oxygen saturation, aerobic capacity, ceiling, and threshold. 📊 The folks at @stretch_affect were so supportive from the time I walked in the door to the time that I left, which was about an hour.

I learned that my aerobic capacity is in the 92nd percentile of women between the ages of 40-49. So proud! I’ve been feeling stronger lately and this is just the beginning! ✨

My monthly love letter to San Diego 🤍🌞🌊

Here’s some NEW & some ORIGINALS that got a fresh look. To be honest, September is my *all-time favorite month in SoCal, so this is just a warm up for the best days and guides ahead:

1. Afternoon Reset @ The Pink Lady aka @lavalenciahotel - they recently renovated the spa and the quiet/warm (kid free) afternoons are the perfect way to catch a break as the school year gets back in gear.

2. Coastal Cocktails @by.the.sea.coronado - The island is getting its day in the sun (literally #byebyemarinelayer), but with @babygrandcrowncity and @delcoronado renovation it’s a ‘locals summer’ destination. By the Sea is airy, outdoors and Mediterranean style cooking.

3. Back to the gym @thecompoundliftingclubsb - this is their second location open in Solana Beach for the person who wants to say goodbye to summer madness and focus on strength & lifting. Owned and operated by a local SD family.

4. Renovated and ready for sunsets and sushi- @roppongi_lajolla got a fresh face lift but the menu still has its bones perfect for fish and meat lovers. (Read: they kept the hot rock!)

5. Performance & Recovery are center stage @stretch_affect in Sorrento Valley. Hands on manual PT mixed w tools that look like they should be in Tony Starks house. This place is fixing up the average Joe to top athletes.

6. Back to Books @carlsbadvillagebooks - a quiet place to go after school and chill from long days. The renovation is adorable and is giving Belle from Beauty and the Beast in the cozy village setting.
