“Do what you can do when you can do it.” 💙 Here’s Hugo. He’s a 42-year-old critical care paramedic with his incredible work crew who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February. 😮 “My dad has prostate cancer, and then last year my older brother was diagnosed in his late 40s. That made me think I should probably get myself checked, too. “I had my PSA tested in January, and it came back at 8.9. At first, we thought it might be an infection because I had absolutely no symptoms. 😟 “After antibiotics, MRIs and a biopsy, we found out it was cancer. It definitely wasn’t on the bingo card. 😔 “In May, I had a robotic radical prostatectomy. The surgery went well, the margins were clear, and my first PSA afterwards was undetectable. “The recovery has been a rough ride, but things are improving. I’m back at work, back training, and getting back to normal life. 🙂 “The frightening thing is that I wouldn’t have known anything was wrong if my brother hadn’t been diagnosed. I had no symptoms at all. “You never know what’s growing inside you. Be proactive, know your family history and get yourself checked.” Hugo and a group of his paramedic mates are now taking part in The Long Run, turning his diagnosis into something that can help other men and families. “We’ve got a really good group of friends around us. We’re spreading the word through hospitals, ambulance stations and social media, and people have really got behind us. 😊 “For me, it’s about making the most of what you’ve got, because you don’t know what’s around the corner.” 💙 Thank you, Hugo, for sharing your story and encouraging other men to learn their family history, get checked, and take action. Today only, @telixpharma and @tyrepowerofficial will double donations to The Long Run until $50,000 is matched. Today is your last chance to double your impact.
