We’re less than THREE weeks away from hosting our very first golf classic for @thedennispricejrfoundation.⛳️ The goal is set. With our $25K fundraising goal, we’d be able to fully equipt a new @mscsk12 school with a DJ’s Care Closet. FREE of charge year round to our students in need of toiletries, school supplies, and basic necessities that we often take for granted. Every ticket/donation counts. Not a huge fan of golf? Honestly, this is the perfect opportunity to embrace the green, while supporting a cause that is beneficial for the youth of Memphis. Take it from me— it’ll be a great time. Checkout the link in my bio to learn more, and secure your team or spectator ticket today!⛳️ Captured by @visualsbytheartist Produced by @structure.nyc

There’s a fine line between just having good ideas and executing them. Having someone to not only challenge you to bring that idea to life but play a key role in producing it makes it easier to bring to life. Take my advice— SHOOT YOUR SHOT. Want to work with a creative? Ask them to grab a coffee or lunch to establish a relationship. Want to learn from a designer? Pay it forward by supporting their work online, and ask questions. Want to work with a brand? Start by building rapport with someone from the team & express your interest. All it takes is one ‘yes.’ Collaboration is key if you plan to THRIVE in the creative scene. You don’t need more inspiration—you need a team that will push that vision further. Shoutout to @gabrielleyasmeen for bringing this project to life with me! Check out the pics from our shoot on my page, lmk what you think.🎱

I don’t share many of my career wins, but this one was Heaven sent. Thrilled to announce that I’ve joined the #Fisk family as the University’s 1st Senior Graphic Designer.👩🏾‍💻 I’m the product of two HBCU graduates. My uncle, the 1st graphic designer I’ve ever know, also graduated from an HBCU. So this isn’t by mistake. It’s on purpose. And ya girl is ready to leave a creative legacy mark. Stay tuned, Nashville. Class is now in session.💙

Let’s get back to talking about records for real. Over the years, my travels have taken me to countless corners of the world to feed both my curiosity and my collection. One thing I’ve learned along the way: every record carries a statement, and every statement has a story. On the first episode of INSIDE TRACKS, we meet Petité, a teenage girl group whose 1985 single “So Fine” doubles as an answer song to New Edition’s “Mr. Telephone Man.” Same phone call. Different perspective. The record was produced in Brooklyn by Dwight York, also known at the time as Dr. Malachi York, who was later convicted of serious crimes, complicating how his involvement in this era—musically, politically, and religiously—is understood today. “So Fine” never crossed over the way its inspiration did, but that’s exactly why records like this deserve another listen. They live in the margins, holding stories that deepen how we understand music history. Curated & captured by @structure.nyc
