In Reckless, we had a lot of driving scenes, so it was very important to me that it felt like the actors were actually driving and not sat in a car in front of a green screen or LED wall.

To me there is something about genuine movement, the light shifting across faces, the way the suspension reacts, and tiny imperfections in the road that pass through into the camera. It’s very hard to fake.

So for this we used a process trailer. For anyone who doesn’t know what that is - it means the car, the actors, the camera crew and lighting team is all mounted on a trailer and towed through real locations while we film. Real streets. Real light. Real atmosphere. The actors can actually perform without pretending they are moving, because they are.

It is definitely harder and has its own challenges. It is less comfortable. It is way less controlled. But it gives you truth and for a film like Reckless, truth in those moments mattered.

Big love to the crew who made it happen safely and made it look effortless.
