BEFORE FRANK FRAZETTA, THERE WAS ROY G. KRENKEL!

For our next weekly art review, we’re cracking open the massive IDW collection to dissect the forgotten master of sword-and-sorcery illustration.

From lost alien civilizations to explosive ink-wash staging and prehistoric monsters, Krenkel set the gold standard that inspired an entire generation of fantasy giants. We break down the pen-and-ink mechanics, dynamic compositions, and draftsmanship secrets you can apply directly to your own sketchbook.

🇺🇸 9:00 AM EDT (New York) / 6:00 AM PDT (LA)
🇦🇺 11:00 PM AEST (Brisbane)
Head to Patrick’s youtube channel pjartworks Patrick J. Jones and make sure you're subscribed for masterclass breakdowns every single Saturday US time and Sunday morning the rest of our big beautiful world.

Tell me in the comments: Who first introduced you to classic sword-and-sorcery art?
