It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alfredo “Tito” Carrillo,† Assistant Baseball Coach at STU.

Alfredo “Tito” Carrillo served as an Assistant Baseball Coach at St. Thomas University beginning in the Fall of 2020. Tito was much more than a great baseball coach—he was a mentor, a teammate, and a friend to our student-athletes and everyone within the STU community.

Tito loved St. Thomas University. He could often be seen supporting our other athletic teams, proudly cheering on STU and its student-athletes. His loyalty and dedication to our baseball program were unwavering, and he always found ways to help our players, our coaches, and our program succeed. Tito made a lasting impact on so many people through his coaching, his mentorship, and the relationships he built. His contributions to STU Baseball will never be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this time.

The first member of the Women’s Volleyball program to earn All-Sun Conference honors for four-consecutive years, Dollinger (formerly Nowaczyk) helped lay the winning foundation the Bobcats have built upon behind an 86-39 record during her time in the Gardens with three-consecutive 20-win seasons and the 2014 Sun Conference Regular Season crown. Her 3,569 career assists mark stood as the school’s record until this season.

A four-year letterman for the Bobcats from 2011-2015, Beckford was a mainstay in the Bobcats’ starting lineup during a period where they went 87-41 with four-consecutive trips to the NAIA Division II National Tournament and won the 2013-2014 Sun Conference Regular Season Title. His team’s 26 wins during the 2013-14 campaign set the program record for wins in a season and still holds it, with the 2022-23 installment matching the win total. In his final year he nearly averaged a double-double behind 10.7 points and 8.3 rebounds, earning Sun Conference All-Defensive Team accolades. For his career, he shot .479 from the field while averaging 7.1 rebounds.

Putting St. Thomas into the National Conversation for the first time, the 1996 Baseball Team went 47-21 while becoming the first team in school history to advance to the NAIA National Championships. Led by Sun Conference Coach of the Year Jim Pizzalatto and with six All-Sun Conference recipients on the roster, the Bobcats won the League’s Regular Season Championship before winning the South Region Tournament to advance to the NAIA College World Series. The Bobcats went 2-2 at the World Series, ending their run against eventual Champions Lewis-Clark State in the Semifinals. The 47 wins stood as the program record for over 20 years until the 2018 team surpassed the mark with 56 wins.
