The Abiquiu Studio Tour @abiquiuartscouncil is one of my favorite events and this year we came home with some fabulously beautiful and inspired treasures by a few of my favorite New Mexico artists.

Woven wool coat by Suzie Fowler @studio_ramaseca
Felted wool hat by Christelle Burns / La Chapeliere
“The Protector” by @debrafritts
“Resguarda Mi Hogar - Protector My Home” by @hebe_garcia_finearts

I like that the two ceramic pieces I loved most happened to both named “Protector”.

The tour is tomorrow, too, so hit the road and go see some beautiful art in a stunning setting.

STOP # 25 ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS | Las Parras de Abiquiú (PART 2 OF 3). Meet three more artists: Suzie Fowler-Tutt, Sarah Grenzeback, and Ron Cox.

Suzie Fowler-Tutt of Studio Rama Seca is a high desert folk artist working across fiber art, painting, textiles, home furnishings, clothing, and ceremonial pieces. No matter the medium, Suzie focuses on the environment and upcycling, incorporating recycled fibers and materials foraged from her desert surroundings into her work. Contact: 706-631-9910 @studio_ramaseca

Plein air artist Sarah Grenzeback is inspired by the open skies, pure light, and rich colors of the New Mexico landscape. Working on-site with a palette knife, she creates richly textured oil paintings that capture a particular moment in the landscape. Sarah also creates colorful abstract mixed-media work through an intuitive process of discovery guided by movement, emotion, and the senses. Contact: sarahgrenzeback.com @sarahgrenzeback_art

Ron Cox of Journey Art creates visual stories using painted wooden shapes. A former architect whose design and planning work took him into cultures around the world, Ron draws inspiration from those experiences as well as the ancient sites and landscapes of New Mexico. He describes his work as “Journey Art,” using storytelling as a way to guide the spirit toward discovery and awareness. Contact: 505-901-1893.

Visit Suzie, Sarah, and Ron (and more!) at Stop # 25, Las Parras de Abiquiú, open all three days during the 2026 Abiquiú Studio Tour! Horno baked food by Norma Naranjo, and wood-fired pizzas and coffee drinks by the Abiquiú Volunteer Fire Department. @abiquiuvfd

Great fun snowshoeing on Aspen Vista today! We did four miles and I have to say it wasn’t easy - I haven’t been on the mountains for weeks due to being sick over New Year’s - it felt so good to be back!

Christmas Eve in Santa Fe with @studio_ramaseca - started on the Plaza then did the Farolito walk on Canyon Road where Brad Smith was drumming it up in his gallery

Aspen Vista was a mix of ice and bare trail for the first mile, then a few inches of snow after that. Ideally we would have carried snowshoes and changed once we hit good snow, but staying with spikes was fine

Adventure Time! We ran into a “hot spot” on the trail today - Suzie said it was most likely from wildland firefighers doing some clearing, but she tried to put it out anyway (for those who don’t know, my sister is a volunteer firefighter). No joy with just a baby trail shovel, so she called it in. It was confirmed wildland was working in the area, but we’re glad we reported it.

We had snowshoes on for the first time this year - I’m really happy with my MSR Denalis. Trail was packed snow and ice with bare patches, gorgeous weather!

First snow of the season! About 5-7” of snow, no wind and a bright blue sky. And hot chocolate. And my sister @studio_ramaseca. Perfect! ❄️🌞
