POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

From process to experience.

Each piece is handcrafted, respecting the time, the material, and the unique characteristics of ceramics. The result finds its true meaning when it transitions from the creative process to actual use, becoming a functional and aesthetic part of everyday life.

Before it becomes art, it is work.

Working with our hands means being a little bit of everything at once — labourer, craftsperson, problem solver, and artist.

Every material asks for something different. Clay needs patience. Glass needs timing. Tools need control. And sometimes the best decisions only happen when your hands are already in the process.

There are mistakes, repetitions, sore hands, failed pieces, unexpected discoveries — and that is where most of the learning actually lives.

At Studio Sahni, we like showing these moments too.

Not just the finished object, but the work behind it. The physical process. The small decisions. The hours that usually stay invisible.

Because making by hand is not only about creating a piece.

It is also about becoming better through the act of making.

Sometimes I look back and it feels strange to think how far life can move in just a few years.

Six years ago, during Covid, I never imagined I would end up on the other side of the world, working in a glass studio, shaping hot material with my hands and building a life around making.

A lot can change in five years.

Maybe that is what I love most about art.

Once it enters your life, it doesn’t really leave. It stays somewhere inside you, quietly making you more curious — about memory, emotion, people, places, and all the things we struggle to put into words.

And somehow, that curiosity keeps pulling you forward.

From one material to another.
From one country to another.
From one version of yourself to the next.

I still don’t know exactly where it is taking me.

But I think that’s the beautiful part.

Some forms only appear when you stop trying to control them.

This piece started in the hotshop with no fixed drawing and no final shape in mind.

When glass is hot, time becomes part of the process. You have a very small window to push, pull, open and sculpt before the material changes again.

I usually prefer to work in that moment — watching how the glass reacts to heat and letting those reactions guide the form.

The two openings, the stretched body and the flow of blue all came through that conversation with the material.

I’d like to take this piece further now — experimenting with colour and eventually mounting it on a metal base as a small collectible sculpture.

Still exploring where this form can go.

Looking back at these years makes me way more emotional than I expected.

Finishing this chapter at VICARTE and going through all these photos and videos made me realise how much of who I am today was shaped by the people around me.

To all my friends — thank you.

I genuinely don’t think I would have grown into the person I am now without you guys. In different ways, every one of you gave me something — support, confidence, perspective, laughter, distraction when I needed it, and space to become more serious about my artistic practice.

And honestly, some of the best memories have nothing to do with the studio.

The beers.
The barbecues at VICARTE.
The pizza nights.
The stupid conversations.
The random plans.
The moments that felt completely normal at the time and now somehow feel priceless.

I would do a lot to live some of those nights again.

So this post is just me saying thank you for being there, for sharing these years with me, and for becoming such a big part of this chapter of my life.

I really hope life gives us another chance to make more memories like these.

Until then, enjoy this little throwback.

And don’t worry — this is only part 1.

Part 2 is going to be much crazier.

Love you all. 🤍

Handmade is the new luxury.

Not because it is perfect, but because you can still feel the time, the hands, and the decisions inside it.

Held Within begins as a ceramic sculpture — shaped slowly by hand, with its curves, openings and voids left visible as part of the form.

But when light enters the piece, it becomes something else.

The empty spaces begin to glow from within, changing the sculpture and the atmosphere around it.

We like that transformation.

A void does not always have to remain empty. Sometimes it can hold light, memory, warmth, or an emotion we cannot really name.

From sculpture to lighting object, the form stays the same — only what lives inside it changes.

Studio Sahni has always been about the process as much as the final piece.

For us, it starts with material research — touching, testing, breaking, reshaping, and understanding how far ceramic and glass are willing to go.

From there, forms begin to appear. Sometimes as sculptures, sometimes as lighting pieces, sometimes as something in between.

As a duo, Beatriz and I are constantly exchanging ideas, memories and observations, trying to translate them into objects that can make someone feel something without having to explain everything.

Then comes the next part of the journey — finishing, photographing, exhibiting, and finally letting the work leave the studio and meet other people.

This reel is a small glimpse into that path.

From material to collectible object.
From sculpture to light.
From our studio to the world.

I rarely begin with a sketch.

Most of the time, the form starts with the glass itself.

Working with borosilicate, I begin from a simple tube and make decisions as the material responds to the flame — stretching, collapsing, opening, resisting.

There’s a point where you stop trying to control the material and start listening to it.

For me, that’s where the interesting forms begin.

No fixed plan, just heat, movement, and seeing how far the glass is willing to go.

Enjoy the process.

Some pieces stay with you because of how they were made, and who you made them with.

Working with glass has taught me that it’s never really an individual process. In the hotshop, you depend on each other constantly — every move, every decision, every small adjustment has to somehow come together at the right moment.

Really grateful to my friend Noah for always being there to assist, and for everything I’ve learned while working alongside you. There’s so much that comes from simply sharing the process with someone — understanding each other’s movements, figuring things out together, and trusting the moment.

Grateful for this piece, for the process, and to have worked on it with you, @noah.alhalel.ha . 🤍🔥 🤗

Sometimes all you need is a wheel and a piece waiting to be finished.

Finishing might look like the easier part of the process, but it’s often one of the most time-consuming. It asks for patience, attention, and a steady hand — because sometimes one small mistake means starting all over again.

There’s something therapeutic about slowing down with the material, following its rhythm, and giving time to the smallest details.

A little ceramic therapy from the Studio Sahni wheel. 🤍

Sometimes the final touch takes the most patience.

UNSEEN
2026
Blown Glass
15 × 28 × 25 cm

Every finished artwork tells a story, but not every story is visible.

Unseen is inspired by the invisible hands behind every piece of glass. While the final form often appears effortless, glassmaking is never the work of one person alone. It is a craft built on trust, precision, timing, and collaboration. Every movement, every decision, and every helping hand becomes part of the finished work, even if it remains unseen.

This piece is a tribute to those quiet contributions—the dedication, patience, and teamwork that make creation possible but are rarely recognized.

I’m grateful to @arrivalgalleryofficial and @ateliernataliagromicho for the opportunity to exhibit my work and to be part of such an inspiring exhibition.

A very special thank you to @beatrizvarella__ my partner in life and in the studio. Thank you for believing in me since day one, for your endless love, strength, patience, and encouragement. Your support is woven into every piece I create, even when it isn’t visible. This work belongs to you as much as it belongs to me.

Some of the most important parts of a masterpiece are the ones no one ever sees.
