Laurie Torres is one of the invited remixers on Echo—Variations, Arp’s new project for Modern Obscure Music.

The collection takes Drifts, Arp’s 2025 album, as its starting point, opening the compositions to a selection of artists who reinterpret them through different shades of ambient, experimental, minimal and electronic music.

Torres contributes After the Storm (Laurie Torres Remix) a delicate reinterpretation that brings out the more contemplative side of Arp’s music. Through repetition, space and subtle shifts, the piece unfolds slowly, allowing each small variation to become part of the atmosphere.

A quietly immersive work where piano, texture and silence seem to exist in suspension — a minimal, intimate take on Arp’s original composition.

New music out today : Jefre Cantu-Ledesma & Laurie Torres remixes

“Echo—Variations” is a new collaborative project between half-French, half-Greek, NY-based composer/producer Alexis Georgopoulos aka Arp and an acclaimed group of international remixers, all occupying unique and adventurous corners of the musical landscape

Today, the second installment is released, featuring acclaimed ambient auteurs Jefre Cantu-Ledesma and Laurie Torres, both of whose most recent albums, “Gift Songs” and “Apres Coup”, respectively, were gorgeous exercises in atmosphere and restraint, featuring everywhere in Best of 2025 lists. The release also includes two unreleased Arp reworks, touching on Basinski-esque disintegration and pastoral minimal techno.

KMRU is back on Modern Obscure Music with his contribution to Echo—Variations, a series of reworks of Arp’s Drifts.

KMRU was part of The Sound of Space, our Random and Emblematic compilation, where he translated a space from his hometown of Nairobi into sound. He was also part of one of our last showcases in Barcelona.

Echo Variations is already available on @bandcamp and other digital platforms, with a limited run of cassette tapes also available.

We’re very happy to have KMRU back. @_kamaru_
