Today, I had the honour of facilitating community art activations with the incredible team at Elizabeth Fry Toronto. @elizabethfrytoronto It was inspiring to be surrounded by people doing such meaningful work in our community. I left feeling deeply inspired by the work Elizabeth Fry does to support women and non-binary people impacted by or at risk of entering the criminal justice system. Thank you, Melanie Billark, for the opportunity and for trusting me with your vision. 💛 @melanie.billark I’m grateful to have been part of this day and hope it’s the beginning of more opportunities to create together. #elizabethfrytoronto #artforgrief #communityart #creativewellbeing

🥰 Thank you @melanie.billark @studioarts_to for inviting me to be part of her artful summer camp! Such talented young people with creative ideas! We had so much fun creating these ceramic mini pinch pot vase. They get to experience the whole process from forming with clay to glazing their own designs. . ✨ Created: Ceramic Mini Pinch Pot Vase(s) . 🌈 Highly recommend @studioarts_to camps/workshops! . ❣️ Note: not all pieces came out of the kiln as the way they went in the kiln. There is always a risk of uncontrollable outcomes.

Join us July 25 & 26 to celebrate the opening of the new section of Biidaasige Park and seven new artworks along the Art Trail with two free, drop-in programs. 🌿 Art + Nature Tours: This weekend (July 25 and 26), tours will run on Saturday and, for this weekend only, Sunday too, at 11 AM, 2 PM & 4 PM. There are two tours at each time slot: one in LAT East and one in LAT West, each with its own meeting point. 🎨 Recreate Place (@recreateplace), in partnership with Waterfront Toronto, offers all-ages community art-making along the Art Trail, facilitated by Artist Educators Melanie Billark (@melanie.billark), Amanda McCavour (@amandamccavour) and Raha Medhat (@mmemedhat), with a team of Youth Facilitators. Here's one of three community art/gardens planted this year! This one is with the students @keystone_toronto ! The grade 9s and 10s helped paint and decorate the planter boxes, while the grade 7s and 8 students helped to plant all of the seedlings! We can't wait to see them grow! Biggest thank you to @thestopcfc for generously donating some extra plants this year so we could start a diverse garden here!

It just goes to show that when artists are given the space, the support, and the community, we thrive, we heal, we create and we uplift each-other by inspiring those around us! Everyone needs to find what their "therapy" is but here's a little glimpse into my practice and my creative world. Having the opportunity to focus on my art, surrounded by other incredibly creative people, in this space still feels like a dream I haven't quite woken up from.. and I'm honestly okay with that 🌱💕 I hope you find you calm, your place and something that brought you joy today! #artistlife #artistresidency #internationalart

Happy earth day everyone!! Each year I often organize a community based event from garbage clean up to nurdle pick ups to seed bombing and re-wilding my local #toronto community partnering with local organizations like @akinprojects @thebentway @thestopcfc @rewildersto @highparknaturecentre @proofexperiences and more! This year I'm across the pond soaking in the insane forward thinking and integration of sustainability in the Netherlands that I hope to bring back in multiple capacities in the near future to my local community. Yesterday, I spent the day @ndsm up-cycling old furniture, painting sediment layers onto the wooden table with clay based watercolours and creating a wildflower garden from a found drawer and table! I may be far away but I'm always finding ways to re-wild and make each community I visit or reside in a little more green 🌱 Spend time today breathing in the air, feeling the grass, smelling the flowers, hugging a tree, it's important we stay connected to our natural world especially in the rise of virtual realities and technologies. 🤍 #happyearthday #spendtimewithnature
