📣 Will be a part of Studio Astitva's second annual group show at KamalNayan Bajaj Gallery, Mumbai featuring some of the established, mid and emerging Indian artists in Contemporary Realism today. My oilpainting "Narratives through her eyes" will be on showcase.

If you are in Mumbai please do visit the show to see some beautiful representational artwork and a series of demos and art talks as well. The show is from March 8th- 14th, 11am-7pm, KamalNayan Bajaj Gallery, Nariman Point.

About my artwork:

On a trip to Kashmir, I came across this little girl trying out the local costume. I immediately knew that it was a painting waiting to happen. I approached her parents for permission to take her photo and they agreed right away! Her slight, almost imperceptible smile, intensity in her almond eyes for someone so young and the traditional costume made me paint her.

I chose to focus on her gaze, face and some of jewellery of the region and portray the rest of the costume with loose, direct brushwork. To contrast with the details on the traditional jewelry, I chose to portray the background flat with a more contemporary color.
