POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

December has been a busy but wonderful month, from our fantastic graduation ceremonies, to our packed RaveLATE events and a special book launch!🚀

🔵 Students shortlisted for our bottle design competition with Kopparberg were given a tour of the Neverland studios! Our competition winner will not only have over 4 million bottles with their design, but will also complete an intensive design internship with advertising hero’s Neverland. 🍺

🔵 Teacher’s educator and staff member Virna launched a book to help lecturers create a more inclusive learning experience. The successful launch was held in our building 👩🏻‍🏫

🔵 We’ve hosted 2 more RaveLATE events, and have once again received feedback that the talks are both informative and inspiring. More to come in the new year 👀

🔵 To mark 25 years of WGSN, their pocast team spoke to a Sally Joyce, the design lead at Marks and Spencer, also a Ravensbourne graduate. Sally mentions a pivotal moment in her career was enrolling at Ravensbourne. Listen via the link in our bio. 🎙️

🔵 Some of our students were treated to a guest lecture talk by New Genre - a creative studio designing brands, products, and experiences. 'How should an outstanding design portfolio look like in 2024?' New Genre founder Mihai Toma and Lead Designer James Ford worked with our students on their design portfolios, helping them perfect their working in the industry. 🤝

🔵 Our 2023 Graduation ceremonies are still fresh in our minds, we love to see our student celebrating their success! Check out bio for the link to all the photos from the day 📸

The story of “Supo Mungam” AKA the Kidulthood theme tune.

Arkane was the first band I was in. “Supo Mungam” was a track on an album we made. At that point we were working out of the back room in a ropey old flat in South London - above a car mechanic’s garage. In the summer the exhaust fumes would rise up through the floor and it would get so hot that we’d have to take the sides off the PC and stand a desk fan in next to it to stop it overheating and shutting itself off.

I was working as a pot washer for the local council when Ben called me and said they wanted to use the song in the movie and they wanted it for all the trailers and promo too. There was a problem though - the main meat of the tune was an uncleared sample so we’d need to remix it from scratch. I managed to weasel my way out of work early and we re-wrote and re-mixed it in an afternoon. This was kinda how I got into film composing.

@bbc1xtra is profiling the movie as part of Black History Month. This movie was so influential and I’m proud to have played a small part in it.
