The December issue of Leisure Painter & The Artist dropped through my letterbox a couple of days ago. One of the features in this packed edition is about my art residency at @lnaact and takes you through step by step guides on how I painted these two watercolour paintings of their helicopter and the challenge of simplifying complex forms and adding layered washes of yellow.

#picoftheday SOLD - I am loving being asked to recreate my popular Murmuration Original Watercolour. It has captured the imagination and memories for many local people and visitors to Teignmouth. Thank you all for your interest in my art. #watercolour #teignmouth #murmuration https://larkstudios.co.uk ❤️

My latest video tutorial for @studiobristle is now live, and this time we're painting fireworks over Newquay Harbour.

I look at how I build up different types of fireworks in acrylic, using layers of colour and contrast to create that sense of light glowing against a dark sky, while keeping the harbour below largely in silhouette. The tutorial starts with how to paint fireworks in isolation, then I show how I apply to a landscape painting.

🎨 Acrylic Fireworks at Night is now available to watch for members on Bristle.

And I'll be sharing the finished painting properly very soon… 👀🎆

Another morning in the studio. I am very pleased with this one. 1/1 monotype, oil printing ink on 32x41cm printing paper. I have lots more to do, including other types of work in preparation for my big exhibition next year. From now on I shall just do snippets and bits of my work because otherwise the exhibition won’t be the big reveal. 😊
