I will be displaying my intermedia artwork "Card Catalog Traces" at Prospect Heights Art Club's @phac.xyz One Good Work multimedia group art show, from August 27th to September 6th. Held at Studio Contro @studiocontro , we've been working hard on our artworks since February and this is my most complex interactive piece to date. Reception will be from 6-9PM, on the 27th and you'll get to meet my boyfriend hehe. Link in bio to RSVP. There will be fiber art, non-fiction works, zines, collages, sculptures, comics, and more! It's been a lot of fun experimenting and writing as my fictional protagonist, Eleanor Tecson Cataag Credo. A depressed & lonely Filipina American, 37 year old office worker. It started as a fictionalization of me but she's become more and more distinct. She's more jaded and closed off, needs friends but scared to talk. So she confides into these index cards which she sticks stickers, odd objects, rubbish, and ephemera. She then responds with writing in the expanse of unsent letters, diary entries, flash fiction, lists, and hopefully poem comics, diagrams, and collages. And way more. I have 40 so far and hopefully will have a total of 50+ before Monday arrives. It'll have a card catalog filing system and tabbed categories that I'm still figuring out. Rather than throw away this runaway white, I decide to keep it in my drawer. Less of me to discard & somehow pretty. A tangle of a cloud, I wonder how it'll fray in the hopeful years to come. Sometimes I feel this card catalog endeavor is pointless. But I never been this consistent beyond work & school. Yes it's only been 20 days but it means something when you do it for yourself alone. There's so very few things I can say the same for. This is only worthwhile to & for me. I don't know if I'll ever show my drawers to anyone. Let me keep this intimate to only myself alone. Allow me to grow this internal world until I see the value of someone knowing (me) too." Last night, I facilitated my first workshop, “How to Find Your Elders,” a deeply personal offering, in beta, at @studiocontro. The idea started with my grandma and the relationship we’ve built together over the years. Last year I witnessed my court of elders—her siblings—pass in succession. What I’d been born into was shifting at a rapid and unexpected pace. Witnessing her grief changed me, and I realized the richness of that intergenerational connection goes beyond bloodlines and proximity. It isn’t something you inherit passively, It’s something you build. I trained through @lifeshopny with @alex_____simon , a true IRL practitioner. One workshop, How to Listen, changed my orientation around gathering and learning entirely. The facilitation training felt inconvenient (on paper, it was) and like a full-body yes at the same time. I leaned into the latter. It rained. Half my invite list didn’t make it. And what I learned in that pivot is the thing I’ll carry longest: trust the room. Your attendees are whole, wise people. Finding your elders isn’t always external. Sometimes it’s the wisdom you already carry forward. Would you like to attend the next one? 🗳️ below.

We’ve had a full few months! Kent took People’s Choice at @blackspaceorg’s pitch night. We shared work at @parsonsschoolofdesign’s Visibilize-ing Care Festival, hosted our first Community Portrait Party at @studiocontro, co-organized Beloved Futures with @motherstrustalliance @hatchandnestregistry and @terezush for Black Maternal Health Week, and were invited by @mrshortscreates to host our Community Yearbook activity at the Columbus Black Artists Forum. In May, we’re headed to Philly for the @aamersofficial conference with @whitneyrmcguire to co-host a Collective Futuring workshop and release a white paper on what it takes for cultural institutions to show up at the intersection of climate and community. Whew! That was a mouthful. More soon :)
