The year was 2013. I was living one of those dreams you put on a bucket list and secretly wonder if you’ll ever get to experience. @baldfacelodge was (and still is) a pretty damn special place, especially for a bunch of snowboard collectors who dream, breathe and obsess over snowboarding. It honestly felt like living inside a dream. Unreal sunrises and sunsets, an incredibly friendly and professional crew, food that could easily belong in a five-star restaurant… and, because apparently that wasn’t enough, rare vintage snowboard decks hanging in the restrooms (That @tarquinrobbins 😍). But it wasn’t just the place that was magical; the people were pretty damn special too. That particular year, I had the chance to share some laps with @coreysmithsimulacrum . Corey is one of those genuinely good humans who simply loves snowboarding, and he went on to create the Spring Break series, which became a hugely successful division over at @capitasupercorp . The guy can definitely ride (We already knew that), but what always stood out to me was his creativity and willingness to push snowboard shapes in new directions. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of his early prototypes, which is still one of my favorite planks in the collection to this day. So yeah, Baldface delivered the full experience: incredible terrain, ridiculous food, good people, and rare snowboard history hiding in 360 view. Some places are simply more than a trip. Baldface was one of those places. Merci @baldisbeautiful ❤️. And if you happen to be in Truckee, go check out Corey’s showroom/ shop, @donut_shoppe! 🍩 I must be dreaming. Pure. May 30th 2015… A day before my actual birthday. 100% handmade. One of a kind.
