An incredible evening celebrating Diwali at the @allthatglittersball this weekend! ✨🪔

One of my favorite parts of these evenings is getting to reconnect with friends we don’t get to see nearly enough! Our incredible hosts, Anjula and Anita, bring the crew together like no one else! ❤️

At its heart, Diwali is a celebration of light. The light we carry within us, the light we share with others, and the light we each continue to build in this world. We all bring our own candle to the party, and together, we shine that much brighter. ✨

And can we talk about the joy of putting our culture on the map?! There was a time when our Indian clothes were something we might have felt the need to tone down or save for certain spaces. Not anymore! Now we’re showing up in all our sparkle, color, and glory, and we’re not afraid to be SEEN! You simply cannot miss us, and I LOVE that for this generation and the next. ❤️

It’s about more than the clothes. It’s about celebrating who we are, honoring where we come from, and proudly carrying our culture forward.

May our lights shine even brighter this year. May we continue to choose love over fear, kindness over cruelty, and good over evil, simply by being the good we wish to see in the world.

My mother used to say that my father was the best ballroom dancer because he knew how to lead. He’d put his hand on the small of her back and she always knew which way to turn, and if he wanted her to move forward or back. I think about that when I see my couples together, like in this photo by 📸 @natashasadikin, and I wish for them a partnership where they are able to guide each other. Where they are able to have faith in the direction that their love takes them, day after day.

Having your backdrop be the world’s largest Tiffany glass dome is pretty unreal, but Rachel and Rohan’s fusion wedding at the Chicago Cultural Center was special for so many reasons. 🥰

They nailed the setup with beautiful flowers, warm candlelight, and taking the baraat onto an open-top bus through the city streets set the tone for the entire day!

What made this one extra meaningful for me was the history. I actually photographed Rohan’s sister’s wedding ten full years ago. Coming back a decade later to photograph Rohan marrying Rachel, and seeing their family grown with two adorable kids running around the dance floor, brought the whole experience full circle. Capturing huge milestones for the same families as the years roll on is easily the best part of this job! 📸
