I proposed this work for the Wilshire Fairfax station way back in 2017, and am super excited to see the beginnings of its fabrication! Thank you so much to the entire team for going the distance. 💥🔥

@metro.art.la 👀 Here’s a preview of @susan_silton’s artwork for the future Wilshire/Fairfax Station! ⬅️ Swipe left to see how it first started in the artist’s studio!

Susan Silton is one of the 27 artists/artist teams creating site specific, integrated artwork for the D Line Subway Extension Project.

𝘞𝘦, 𝘖𝘶𝘳, 𝘜𝘴 expands on Susan’s series that studies the historical use of stripes as social and cultural signifiers. It is motivated by the idea of transit stations as shared public spaces.

The porcelain enamel steel artwork for the station platform will include three messages in English, Korean and Spanish—the predominant languages of the neighborhood—embedded within multicolor-stripes that explore individuality and diversity.

We all love pretty wood floors, but dang, there’s a lot involved in keeping them that way!?!? If you seen my house, you know, it’s no small effort to make this happen! Thanks the lawd, the kitchen is terracotta! Set your intentions~breathe~#livethelifeyoulove

Thanks to everyone who came out! I'll be posting more pictures later but wanted to share this one of the group! Go check out their work in (check the tags in the picture) and I'll be reposting some of their shots in the next few days as well. Stay tune 🙂

An added bonus the mural behind us was also done by a local SELA artist and friend @tetriswai
