Welcome... to BRAIN DANCE! 🧠💃🎶

We're SO excited to share the full performance of BRAIN DANCE, our ongoing art-science collaboration exploring the mysterious space between performer and witness!

Erika June has been developing a new instrument called Somalon, which transforms live brain activity into evolving soundscapes. Kaylin brings those sounds into the world of contemporary dance, exploring what happens when the brain activity of performer and witness becomes part of the artistic experience.

We started with an intimate proof-of-concept performance in September, and that experience helped us develop this more theatrical version, presented at Slippery Rock University on October 16.

And WOW, we're beyond thrilled with how it turned out!

Here's the full ten-minute performance, complete with live brainwave soundscapes, movement, and the energy of the room.

This is just the beginning of what we hope to explore together. More to come!

Learn more about Brain Dance and Somalon:

Developed with support from the Frank-Ratchye Further Fund (FRFF) at the STUDIO for Creative Inquiry, Carnegie Mellon University.

So grateful to SRU-Dance for hosting us!

We are delighted to announce a special one night only performance of a hilariously impactful new work. To kickoff Recovery & Suicide Prevention Month, the Center for New Work & University Health Services present

Narcan Time Machine
a show by John Michael

Wednesday, September 9th at 5:30pm
STUDIO for Creative Inquiry (4919 Frew St, CFA 111)
***FREE ADMISSION***

John Michael is caught between timelines. While scrolling through old texts, he ricochets through childhood soulmates and queer awakenings as he tries to reconcile the grief of losing two friends to fentanyl poisoning. But this isn’t another tragic tale. This trauma‑clown odyssey takes audiences on a wild ride where grief and absurdity collide so hard they spark cathartic laughter. Narcan Time Machine pushes theatre to its limits: part sci‑fi scramble, part slapstick meltdown, part communal intervention. With audience participation and a live Narcan demonstration, the show confronts the opioid crisis with empathy, urgency, and a wild sense of hope — distributing more than 4,250 life‑saving kits to date.

Narcan Time Machine has a run time of 60 minutes and will be followed by a 30-minute talkback with creator/performer @jmsilly and a representative from @preventionpoint moderated by @cmupha. RSVP at the link in our bio!
