Green light as a design material. Working with @studioghosh on this retail space for @____wig____ in Mexico City, we let color do the work — framing the perspective, anchoring the palette, and turning individual LED reflections in metal into a detail worth noticing. Photo: @___monklet

Detail images of the repurposed storage racks found on-site at The Gere Block, a historic factory in West Syracuse. The steel racks were disassembled, cleaned, painted and, by mixing old with new parts, reassembled into new mobile elements—a platform, walls, a bench, planters, curtains, and lamps.

This project was conceived, developed, and built by Juan Balsa, Rocio Crosetto, Ayesha Ghosh, Edgar Rodriguez, Lauren Scott, Pablo Sequero, Laura Salazar, and Magdalena Valdevenito under the alias group collective.

Good news!!
.
As part of the team formed by @asgho @edgararl @laurasalazaraltobelli @laurenbrooke.scott @mag_mag_magds @psequero1 @rocrosetto
.
We have been awarded a @archleague NYSCA / The Architectural League Independent Projects Grant 2024 for our upcoming exhibition “In-Process: Alternative Methods in Reading Evolving Buildings”
.
The exhibition will take place in spring 2025 at The GereBlock, a former warehouse building located along the Erie Canal in Syracuse, NY.
.
Designed by a collaborative team of seven architects, the exhibit highlights adaptive reuse and the cultural significance of underutilized industrial structures in post-industrial cities, using the GereBlock as a case study. Supported by the Independent Projects Grant from The Architectural League and NYSCA, the project showcases innovative methods of documentation, analysis, and public engagement to transform perceptions of historic building stock.
The exhibit encourages visitors to “read” the GereBlock’s history through its structural layers, revealing its adaptation over time. The exhibition incorporates large-scale photographic collages, illustrations cataloging materials and construction methods, and displays of as-found objects, blending historical preservation with contemporary design. Site-specific installations will also prompt visitors to engage directly with the space, fostering a hands-on experience of the building’s evolution.
.
Designed as an immersive experience, the exhibit aims to inspire similar preservation efforts in Central New York’s underserved communities and to establish a framework for adaptive reuse that balances historical integrity with contemporary needs.

#Conversation | “Intergenerational Pedagogies and Practices”, a conversation by KoozArch Managing Editor Valerio Franzone @v.franzone with Tatiana Bilbao @tabilbaoestudio, Elisa Iturbe @it_urbe (Outside Development), and Ayesha Ghosh @studioghosh.

Closing our third editorial Issue “New Rules for School”, these three designers and educators discuss the tools of pedagogy and professional practice in architecture, from collective acts to mentorship. From representation to formal organisation through collective designing, their design and educational activities deal with spatial, social, economic, and environmental systems and processes, understanding architecture as a tool that permits our cohabitation on the planet.
