Today’s affirmation spoken by @benowokay.
Running an indie magazine is hard. And when you make a magazine like ours, one that isn’t part of the in-crowd, things really are stacked against you. Social media algorithms consign you to the far corners of the internet, where no one can find you. And if you don’t have money, like we don’t, you stay there.
So what do we do? Well, as @benowokay said, we keep going.
You can pre-order TONIC Volume 10 from our website, along with all our other volumes, each one lovingly put together. Help keep print alive by subscribing to TONIC magazine today.

Check out this beauty - illustrated by Galia Pike of Westwell Wines and put together by the superb art direction of @ladina.brunner of @studiohighball

I can't believe we have made it to Volume 10 - TONIC is very much a labour of love for Rob and I. We are looking forward to celebrating this milestone edition with all of our readers and the people who have made it possible for us to still be here.

Life as an indie is tough and as a husband and wife duo we are really personally invested in the publication.

Please help us keep on keeping on, and become a part of our TONIC family by pre-ordering your copy of Volume 10 now! Link in Bio👆

Rome, magazines, conversations and a brilliant community of indie publishers 🇮🇹📚

We spent the weekend at Mag-to-Mag Signature Edition in Rome, celebrating independent publishing alongside an inspiring community of magazine makers from around the world. Benita joined a panel discussing the experiences, challenges and opportunities facing publishers working beyond Italy’s borders—sharing perspectives on building independent titles, finding audiences, and staying creatively resilient.

Huge thanks to Anna and the incredible team at Frabs for bringing this special edition to life, and to everyone at Soho House Rome for making us feel so welcome.

Independent publishing, good conversation, great company… and Rome as the backdrop. Not bad at all.

Arrivederci, Rome. Until the next edition. 🍸

And just like that, Tonic Volume 9 is done!

It’s been such a pleasure designing the latest issue of @thetonicmag - a huge thank you to @benitainprint for trusting me with a project that I know means so much, and who did so brilliantly as editor. Your passion for your work couldn’t be clearer on the page.

Shout out to all the contributors for this volume, and to @catcpac, the other half of @studiohighball , for being the first feature on Tonic’s new ‘Creative Pour’ section.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out the latest volume of Tonic Magazine, all about travel, drinks and culture - here’s to the next one.
