Come and join us! Bring your family or friends, disconnect from your screens for a little while, and immerse yourself in live performance, presence and shared human experience.

Support independent migrant artists who are also part of Aotearoa’s cultural landscape, and help us continue contributing to the richness and diversity of the arts in this place we call home.

After a year of writing, dreaming and exploring, and three months of intensive creative and choreographic work, Natura Prabhā: Spectrum River is ready to meet the world!

I’m so happy to invite you to the birth of this new work and its first season in Auckland.

As a migrant artist creating without local production funding or sponsorship, bringing a new work to life has been an intense journey. The project has been supported by Colombia’s Ministry of Cultures, the Arts and Knowledge, with rehearsal space generously provided by Corban Estate Arts Centre.

Natura Prabhā: Spectrum River is a transdisciplinary entanglement of dance, physical theatre, original music, spirituality and personal reflections on contemplative practices such as meditation.

Weaving together reflections on migration, identity and belonging, the work explores how our inner landscapes find expression through the body, light and reflection, projecting into the world as luminous spectres, shifting forms and new possibilities.

Featuring original music by Daniel Ortiz, with Giulia Mattioli joining me as a performer and Jesu Vasquez Lesser Masks and Props, the work has emerged through movement laboratories, shared experiences and embodied reflections on migration.

• Letting the colors dance on a dark canvas. 🌟 Hand-painted with love, patience, and a whole lot of dots!
• A kaleidoscope of patience. 🖌️ There is something incredibly therapeutic about watching a blank canvas slowly transform into a vibrant geometric galaxy.
• Connecting dots to create harmony. Every ring represents a layer of creative energy. What colors stand out to you first?🥊

This week, the Karangahape Art District has a strong line-up of new exhibitions, openings and exhibitions not to miss.

At Melanie Roger Gallery, master carver Rangi Kipa (Te Āti Awa, Taranaki Iwi, Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama) presents a short exhibition of new carved works, coinciding with his presentation at the 18th Lyon Biennale in France. Carved from whale bone and teeth recovered from natural strandings along the shoreline of Aotearoa, these works honour the whale as the supreme ariki (chief) of their domain, our revered ancestor and relation, and recognise our place within the interconnected cycles of oceanic life. The exhibition runs for just over a week, with an artist reception on Saturday afternoon. Don’t miss it!

Opening Wednesday evening this week is The Making of Cleo de Clinq a Sept 2026
by Jacquline Fraser at Lett Thomas. On Saturday join them too for an exhibition floor talk by Gregory Burke at 1pm.

Offcuts by Salome Tanuvasa also opens at Tim Melville presenting an exhibition of new paintings created during her time as the recipient of the 2025-2026 C Art Trust Award. And concurrently, Tim Melville opens INNER GARDEN: Homage to my teachers by Sarah Guppy in the office gallery space. Join them for both Wednesday evening.
And closing this Saturday - Gil Hanly’s exhibition of photography at Charles Ninow - a must-see before it ends.

Please check directly with each gallery for opening hours and exhibition details, as these may vary.
