Ik had niet verwacht dat één vraag mij zo hard zou doen wankelen.

Soms lijkt alles te kloppen.
En toch kan er vanbinnen iets blijven wringen.

Ik was zoekende naar wat er nog overbleef van mijn passie en de zin in mijn professionele leven.

Tot er plots een paar mensen in onze omgeving overleden.
Allemaal rond hun vijftigste. Ik was 44.

Sofie vroeg me: “Wat als je maar 50 zou worden?”
Holy shit. Als ik nog maar zes jaar te leven zou hebben, dan wilde ik op zoek gaan naar wat nog mogelijk was.
Waarvan ik als kind droomde:
Muzikant worden.

Ik ben haar dankbaar dat ze die vraag durfde stellen.
Omdat ze me niet alleen deed nadenken, maar ook weer deed voelen.

Misschien is dat uiteindelijk waar dit over gaat.
Niet dat je ineens je hele leven moet omgooien.
Niet dat alles morgen duidelijk moet zijn.
Maar dat je jezelf toelaat om opnieuw te luisteren naar wat nog leeft.
Naar wat nog roept.
Naar wat nog tijd mag krijgen.

Is dit gemakkelijk?
Zeker niet, ik blijf een zoeker.

Welke droom heb jij nog?

Misschien is het nog niet te laat...
Zorg gewoon dat het geen “Wat Als…” blijft.

Stuur dit door naar iemand die denkt dat het te laat is om opnieuw te beginnen.

Happy 11th Birthday to Sukha.
We reflect on and offer our deepest gratitude for 11 years of community through the roller coaster of life. We’ve built spaces to slow down and get to know all parts of ourselves with compassion and honesty in a world that doesn’t always see value in slowing down and looking in. That is no small accomplishment! 11 years, 4 kids, 4 dogs, 5 locations (wild right!!?), and so many iterations of being and evolving to stay open and willing as partners, parents, business owners, teachers, and as peers making our way.
Thanks for showing up! For sharing your energy, for supporting us and gifting us opportunity to serve you!
Here’s to another 11. Here’s to all beings having the opportunity to be liberated. And for each of us to be true expressions of this practice as living energy out in the world that deeply needs you grounded, compassionate, and clear. We love you!

Honored to be captured by @studioromyphoto in her studio in Austin last summer ~ she is such an artist and playing together on this day felt so natural and special ~ very few people have convinced me to get in front of the camera like this, and yet, Romy made it feel like the most natural thing in the world and my Leo rising ate it up ~ thank you Romy for these images and for seeing and capturing this side of me ❤️‍🔥

Fabulous fall friends and family visits… Yummy BBQ with my nephew, Tiger, in Texas. Leah went to visit my gorgeous 90-year-old uncle, Charles, in LA. Romy was a wonderful guide for us in Austin! And Amaechi introduced us to the hip and happening Cafe Chelsea in the newly restored Hotel Chelsea.

On October 15, 2005, I woke up in Cathedral City anxiously ready and excited to marry @makijeff on a beautifully sunny day with our friends and family around us.

Twenty years of anything is no small feat, especially in marriage. Our partnership has changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. @makijeff, you’ve been my committed husband through all of our adventures, both planned and unplanned.

Thank you for being the ‘bearded, well-spoken, kind-hearted fellow’ you are and taking this wild ride with me, My Love. We did it! What do you say? Shall we try for another 20?
