PRESERVED, UNFIXED BY YASY BACHURINA Objects are collected, named, and preserved, allowing us to return to what has not entirely disappeared. This possibility of return is part of what draws Yasy Bachurina to museums. Yet even when an object remains unchanged, the way we encounter and understand it may shift over time. To preserve something is not to fix a single interpretation, and even familiar forms may hold possibilities yet to be discovered. In this exhibition, paintings and objects coexist without reconstructing a particular period or resolving into a single narrative. Recognition does not bring our relationship with a thing to an end. Yasy Bachurina(@yasybachurina)는 유물과 건축에서 가져온 형태를 회화와 조각으로 옮긴다. 형태가 무엇인지 알기 전에 먼저 붙잡고, 이름과 용도는 나중에 확인한다. 난로로 잘못 본 청동 유물은 그렇게 한 점의 회화가 되었다. 개인전 《Preserved, Unfixed》는 사물을 보존하면서도 그 의미를 하나의 해석으로 고정하지 않을 수 있는지 묻는다. 작가는 작품을 어떻게 만들었는지는 말할 수 있지만, 그것이 무엇인지에 대한 마지막 말은 갖고 있지 않다고 답한다. Yasy Bachurina(@yasybachurina) carries forms from artifacts and architecture into painting and sculpture. A form is taken up before it is understood; its name and function come later. A bronze mistaken for a stove became a painting this way. The solo exhibition 《Preserved, Unfixed》 asks whether an object can be kept without fixing its meaning to a single reading. The artist can say how a work was made, but not the last word on what it is. SEOUL—𝗙𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅, curated by @LiviaKlein_, was on view at @Studiya.Gallery throughout Seoul Art Week 2026. The group show brought together eight artists working across painting, sculpture and installation to ask what happens when a structure's instability is read not as failure but as its very condition. Taking its title from the double sense of "fault"—as rupture and as index, as flaw and as marker—the exhibition traced how architecture, ornament and image carry the record of their own fracture. Works by @Strongmentalist, @Hoelzldaniel, @Kaja_Clara, @Pip_Archive_, @Paolasirirenard, @Titanikpanik, @Katharina_Stiglitz and @Lorenzozerbini moved between collaged paintings, hybrid ornamental sculpture and suspended light, drawing on thinkers from Byung-Chul Han to Donna Haraway to reframe the crack as a site of meaning rather than damage. 𝐅𝐀𝐔𝐋𝐓 𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐗 at @studiya.gallery (Seoul) is coming to an end today. It was my biggest honor and pleasure to work with so many artists from all around Europe and South Korea on this show. Special thanks to @chevv0n and @hong._.chichi from STUDIYA for all the help and support to realize this exhibition 🤍 FAULT INDEX brings together eight artistic positions that move across landscape, architecture, and the body as interconnected sites of transformation rather than separate domains. Structures within these works are continuously formed, displaced, and reconfigured, revealing that stability was never fixed to begin with. Its title names this dynamic: a fault marks the moment an apparently stable order begins to give way, while an index is what persists once that shift has occurred. Rather than treating rupture as an exception to be repaired, the exhibition treats instability as a condition every structure already carries. Matter, architecture, and flesh belong to the same relational field, where stability is never fixed but continuously produced and continuously undone.
