Couple 📸’s & stuff from the soft launch of this years @thegoodnewscrew series at @goldenbulloakland. Shouts to @mars.kumari and @jmousepad for being our guests and providing the funk! It was dope beats & sounds all night - from sample sources and rare grooves to hip hop, drum n bass, electronic, lofi & experimental sounds. They both have dope new music out right now + we got some new sh*t in the works too! As usual, @elitiswack from @amoebaberkeley came thru with a 🔥 set of the best new hip hop releases dropping this month, so make sure y’all go see ELIT and @artfux at Amoeba on Telegraph for those record store day specials or support whatever local record shop around you!
(If you need a RSD recommendation, @officialkoolkeith @rustbelthammer @halodoesntsuck got a 12” droppin)

On the gallery front: Tip of the hat to @petecosmos @morebeerlesswork @grow.dauber @math_punks_thugs_vandals for showing a bunch of really dope stuff across a variety of mediums, beyond traditional canvases. From slices of a tree trunk to giant stop signs, skateboards, and of course, vinyl LPs.
*Fun Fact: the Ultimate Breaks & Beats LP’s that flank the @morebeerlesswork x @grow.dauber vinyls in this month’s show are from Del’s personal collection. But, the plot thickens…As the story goes, Del showed @breakbeatlou he’d collected every edition in the UBB series, only for Lou to promptly point out that his copies were in fact, bootlegs! 🤣

Go see the showing all month at Golden Bull, 412 14th st, downtown Oakland. Open Gallery + Happy Hour is Wednesday-Sunday 5-7pm, no cover. Contact management@thegoodnewscrew.com if you’re interested in pricing/purchasing anything in the show.

Good getting to chat and hang with everyone that came thru - and much love to the folks that supported at the merch stand and the bar too! 🫡 Looking forward to next month! ➡️ Scroll to the last slide for the unveiling of next month’s lineup for the return of our FUNKTION party - highlighting some of the best emcees & rappers comin’ out of the #Oakland area and beyond… tix available now in the linktree.

👍🗞️🤘🏾 Much love! - @thegoodnewscrew
