33 years ago this month, in the December 1991 issue of Go The Rider’s Manual: It’s @jamesshepherd35 with a nosepick on a Homeless Mack, shot at the 2-Hip/Trend Meet The Street @fosterbikepark (Mullaly) in the South Bronx. Sheps placed sixth in pro street and left many of us stunned by the sick nosepick and amazingly clean Homeless setup.

For many of us that didn’t live in Austin or didn’t get to see Sheps ride on a daily basis, this was one of the first looks at a Homeless in action, offering a window inside the subversive ads and hearsay printed in 4-pt font inside of the Trend Bike Source newsprint catalog. From the Forklifter bars to colorized background, everything about this photo screams “1991!”
