It’s NYFW and I’m reminded of the decade that I spent in the NYC fashion world. After working in corporate fashion then owning a clothing line, I ended up using my marketing background and produced runway shows for 12-15 designers each season. After just one season, the agency became the leading agency in NYC for emerging designers (@amconyc) and the rest is history. 👑

I secured major sponsors like Dunkin Donuts, Sacha Cosmetics, Aveda, Fashion Week Online and so many more over the years. It was truly an amazing time with an even better crew who believed in not only vision, but in me. 🙏🏼✨ Their execution was flawless 💕

Every season I see videos of fashion week and I’m catapulted back to a time when life was so very different than it is now and I wonder where had the time gone but also, DAMN, I fucking DID that.

Today marks 15 years that I’ve officially worked as a personal trainer. Here are 15 of the big rocks I’ve learned along the way 💪
•
1. Put your oxygen mask on first - if you’re gasping for air and depleted you won’t be much help to anyone 🫁
•
2. Everyone has an opinion and plenty of people may judge you - do it anyways. Although I know this is a tough concept to wrap your head around, remember life is precious and short, and your life is for you, not anyone else ❤️
•
3. Find a world class physical therapist no matter what your age. Your body will thank you for years to come 👊
•
4. People make exercise and diet too complicated. Learn the basics and execute 🪄
•
5. Consistency over intensity always wins 🥇
•
6. Financial literacy (I’m still working on this one 🙄), social connection, fun and play are all just as important as staying physically and mentally healthy. Are you really living without these? 🤩
•
7. Eat as many whole foods as possible and don’t eat too much dairy 😋
•
8. You are a child in an adult body. If you don’t integrate all parts of you, the darkest shadows will win. This could go against your goals and any other things you’re striving for in life 🌈
•
9. I don’t believe it’s about becoming someone else, but about uncovering pieces of you that you covered up to appease society and the people/environments around you. Shed that shit 🐍
•
10. You can’t make everyone happy, but you can live as fully as possible and make choices that make your 5 year old self, current self and 85 year old self happy ☺️
•
11. Boundaries are love disguised as protection. Be true to yourself and stand up for what you believe in, even when it gets hard 💪
•
12. Building physical trust and strength transfers to mental trust and strength 🧠
•
13. Good mentors and teachers are accelerators of your growth and make life better - find yours ⭐️
•
14. Doing is not the same as being. Embodiment is the key to change 🔑
•
15. Learn to listen to your body and understand what’s it’s telling you. You only get one so take good care of it 🫶

They say a smooth sea never made a good sailor, and I’d say that’s true for the game of life as well. I’ve been attracted to psychology for a long time, and I believe that’s lead me to hear many horror stories of some people’s lives.
•
I myself have dealt with my own crap, including sexual abuse by a family member and lots of attachment trauma. These circumstances lead to certain behaviors and self beliefs that did not help me live smoothly - from self-doubt, low self-worth, insecurities galore, awful body image, 40 pounds of yo-yo weight from disordered eating behaviors, and plenty more…things I believe most of the world goes through and a big reason why the state of the world is the way it is: low self-worth drives poor behavior towards ourselves and therefore to humanity and the world as a whole.
•
Between these two pictures is 37 years of life that had plenty of hard times, but my good times have always outweighed those. I have the best community a girl could ask for, and the people I’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by are the reason I believe I’ve overcome plenty of my crap. I’ve had to do a lot of work to get to the point where I’m at, and I’m still learning. I use my experiences to help others on their journey, because I know that having someone by your side when life gets tough is the thing that can keep you sailing through this thing called life 🛟⚓️❤️

New York is full of joy right now. Every win is worth celebrating…whether it’s a new job, launching a business, reaching a personal goal, or even seeing your favorite team win an NBA championship!

If you’re in town for the World Cup or simply enjoying a summer holiday, that’s a reason to celebrate too.

An empowerment photoshoot is a fun way to celebrate yourself and make this summer unforgettable. ✨📸

There is no doubt that the postures we tend to mold into have some sort of emotional component to them.
•
What does your body do when you’re feeling sad (for example, do you slouch?). What about if you’re feeling mad? Excited? Peaceful? All of these experiences can dictate our physiology and posture at any moment.
•
If our bodies tend to go into a certain posture, and we have the tendencies or habits to feel a certain way about ourselves and how we organize our experience/reality, then strength training can be one tool to get you stronger and more stable so you get yourself into a different pattern or position with more ease. Feelings of strength and stability are going to directly translate to how you perceive yourself and your world.
•
Lifting weights seems to be one tool that could have psychosomatics benefits. Resistance training can have the capabilities to change our energies and build resiliency and strength for life regardless of our past traumas or beliefs. Physiology affects psychology and vice versa. Feel me?

True wellness is more than what happens in the gym 🙂
•
It’s how you speak to yourself when things get hard. It’s about setting boundaries, managing stress, prioritizing rest, and choosing habits that support both your body and your mind through movement, nutrition, sleep and lifestyle 🙃
•
Fitness has taught me that strength isn’t just physical, but mental, emotional, and deeply connected to how we care for ourselves every day. It’s also about enjoying life - laughing with friends. Taking adventures. Celebrating milestones. Dancing. Making memories. Feeling confident and energized enough to fully participate in the life you’re creating 🪄
•
This shoot represents what I believe at Katie Mack Fitness: movement as self-care, exercise as empowerment, and health as a lifelong journey - not a destination 📸
•
My approach combines fitness, mindset, psychology, and sustainable lifestyle habits to help you build confidence from the inside out while creating a life you genuinely enjoy living ⭐️
•
Because wellness isn’t about restriction. It’s about freedom. Freedom to be yourself, have fun and live the life you want 🥂
•
You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to keep showing up for yourself and be true to you. You deserve it ❤️
