EVENT NIGHTMARES… OH, THE STORIES WE COULD TELL! 👻

Last night was an absolute treat at the International Live Events Association (ILEA) Charlotte Chapter’s Halloween-themed meeting!

Picture a room full of event professionals sharing their most unforgettable event nightmares! 😱 From unexpected surprises to those “you just can’t make this stuff up” moments, we had plenty of stories and laughter!

After more than 20 years in the event industry, I can certainly relate! 😂

Great conversations, creative Halloween treats, a little spooky fun, and the opportunity to connect with fellow industry professionals made for a fantastic evening!

Thank you, ILEA Charlotte, for such a fun and memorable gathering! 🧡

Consider this my first ever promotion for my and alicia’s future experiential production company. E😂 But more seriously. Consider this a thank you and huge gratitude for the many ppl and teams that came together in the service of more sustainable and equitable practices for local newsrooms across the nation. 🖤 And. In service of my comrade @aliciab.clt’s vision. Who knew that I’d ever be so lucky? 🥰

The best events have an interactive piece to them, allowing guests to not just be there, but be a part of it!
From onsite screen printing and custom-poured candles to build-your-own succulents, personalized keepsakes, and real tattoos off a custom flash sheet.
What’s the coolest take-home you’ve ever gotten at an event?

Excited to share that Charlotte Love Notes: Latino CLT is a finalist for the 2026 @ustravel_association #ESTO All Ways Welcome Award. 🏆

This recognition belongs to an undeniable, hard-working, servant-leadership village.

Our goal was never to create another tourism campaign. It was to celebrate love while uplifting the entrepreneurs, artists, families and culture that give Charlotte its rhythm. We wanted locals and visiting friends and relatives to experience the city through the eyes of the people rooted in it, the ones who give Charlotte its beat. Charlotte Love Notes Latino understood the assignment.

To everyone who trusted us with your stories, and who was brave enough to share them on camera during such a vulnerable time, thank you.

To our featured couples, @manolobetancur & leidyospina and @focal4films & marisolcuevas

You reminded us always to choose love, stand strong through adversity and that humans tell the most beautiful and real stories.

To our partners who believed in the vision and helped bring it to life, @creators.collab @cassiefuertez @union @styleperfectevents @aveloair @tk_publicrelations, thank you.

And to my @charlottesgotalot teammates, this recognition is yours as much as it is anyone’s. Full team effort, start to finish. 💙

Winners announced August 25 at #ESTO2026 in Philadelphia. Congrats to all this year’s finalists. 🎉

I spend most of my life making things for other people.

The photographs.
The mural.
The painting.
The custom gift.
The hand-lettered keepsake.
The thing that helps tell someone’s story.

This weekend, I got to be on the receiving end of all that love.

And wow.

As someone who makes things for a living, it was such a surreal and beautiful experience to be surrounded by the work of so many of my creative friends I admire.

One of the coolest parts? Every single detail was personal. And when I say personal, I mean I literally painted, designed, lettered, built, glued, cut, assembled, and probably hot-glued my fingerprints onto just about every part of this wedding. 😂

The signs. The details. The decor. The bar. The shoes. Collaborating on the dress design. Every. Single. Thing.

It was absolutely a labor of love.

A slightly sleep-deprived, covered-in-paint, “why did I think this was a good idea?” labor of love at times... but a labor of love nonetheless. I spent months creating a day that felt so us. Every tiny detail told a piece of our story.

Forever grateful for this creative community that has given me a career I love, friendships I treasure, and a life that is anything but boring.

And somewhere in the middle of all that paint, photography, creativity, and chaos... I found my favorite person. Now I get to call him my husband.

Still soaking it all in. Still staring at my new last name. 🩷

I spent 18 years photographing everyone else’s love story. This weekend I got to live my own. 🩷✨

This weekend was pure magic.

One of the coolest parts? Looking around and realizing so many of the people behind the scenes weren’t just vendors... they were friends. Friends this industry has brought into my life over the last 18 years. It was basically a “hire and invite all my favorite humans” kind of wedding, and honestly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Everyone asked “who in the world is going to shoot your wedding? Who do you choose?” Easy, I chose my incredibly talented friend, the ultimate 🐐 @richardisrael

Forever grateful for this crazy, creative industry that has given me some of my best friends, unforgettable experiences, and a career I genuinely love.

But most of all, I’m grateful that somewhere along the way, I found my very best friend... and now I get to call him my husband. 🩷

So on that note...
