My 2026 @melbournefrocktails outfit!

This year's outfit was directly inspired by Tamsyn of @bravelittlebuckaroo via You Tube, I'd watched her vlog and it was like a fire was lit under me & I immediately bought the patterns, got them printed & literally cut them out the same day! I had recently bought my fabric, buying it in mind for my 55th birthday dress, but knew it was a perfect match for this outfit.

My fabric is from @supercheapfabrics & is 100% cotton, similar to a poplin but thicker(?). It sewed up beautifully and I decided to highlight the pink in the pattern & go with Rose gold accents. I found the sequined fabric for my bag at @spotlightstores as well as the lining, both were in the clearance section & I wish I'd bought more of the sequined fabric!!!

The skirt is the @stylearc #sasophiabubbleskirt & i sewed a size 26, decreasing the length of the main skirt by 3" & the lining by 5". I used my own pocket bags pattern & raised the placement & constructed both the pockets & the waistband by my usual method with a full wide elastic waistband.

My top is the @fibremood #fibremoodtanita top, sewing a XXL & increasing the length by 4" & the sleeves by 2". I even cracked open the bias making machine & made the neck bias binding from the same poplin lining fabric as the skirt. The sleeves have elastic in the hems & are folded & stictched under to create the bubble effect. The two pieces just sat perfectly together & I never felt uncomfortable even showing a little skin now and then!

The cutest ever sequined bag is the knot bag by @motif_studio_patterns & its the 4th year in a row I've made this bag for Frocktails, which should attest to how great an accessory it is. I was a bit anxious about sewing sequined fabric for the first time, but they were so small, my machine had no issues, & I only had to hand sew the wee small seams around the small handle.

Shout Out to @rhi___made for the cute Frocktails labels, they were perfect! @katmwholesale labels for the year & maker labels.

Earrings are copper discs by @hollandandluna & studs by @flluske.bubble & my shoes are @ilovebillyshoes via @styletread.

If you read all this, thanks, you're a ✨️

•FROCKTOBER•

“Ovarian cancers can spread or metastasise at varying rates, depending on the type of ovarian cancer. However, ovarian cancer metastasis often follows a similar pattern, whereby the cancer cells spread from the primary tumour to the pelvis, peritoneal cavity, more distant parts of the abdomen and then to the lymph nodes and the liver.

Recent studies have shown that during disease progression, ovarian cancer cells can spread through both single cells as spheroids or cell clusters. Ovarian cancer spheroids are often found in the ascites fluid which accumulates within the peritoneal cavity. These spheroids present an additional challenge for researchers as they have displayed increased resistance to chemotherapies. This is likely due to their structure with a layer of outer cells forming a protective barrier preventing chemotherapy from properly penetrating the cells.

This is why early detection of ovarian cancer is vital to improving survival. Once the cancer spreads beyond the primary tumour and progresses to more advanced stages, chances of survival rapidly decrease and current treatment methods become less effective.”

Today’s outfit - a gorgeous blue frock with 3D flowers, gifted to me from Blue Illusion. I’m such a fan of their dresses - they make me feel so fancy, are often made from natural fibres, and I can layer. Thanks for making me feel a million bucks, Blue Illusion. My shoes are from Style Tread, jacket is Elk, necklace and brooches are Erstwilder - previously gifted. I’m here with fellow Frocker, Carmen! Love how the sky matches my dress!
