A mentor told me something I haven’t stopped thinking about: a diamond isn’t cut all at once. It’s shaped one angle at a time.
Since I was a kid, I’ve always been the one raising her hand. Class president, the one taking attendance, the one who says yes. Part of it is just who I am. Part of it is that I lost my dad when he was 39, and I’ve never once been able to pretend there’s time to waste.
So I want all of it, at once. The deals. The mat. The books I don’t get to. The people I love, who deserve more of me than the version that comes home at 11pm.
More time. More time. More time.
But a diamond doesn’t shine from being polished everywhere at once. Right now I’m working one face, my career, and it’s taking everything. The other sides aren’t gone. They’re waiting their turn.
Sometimes balance isn’t every day. Sometimes it’s a whole life.

This year I did something different for my birthday.
I invited everyone who has touched my life in different ways, through different versions of me. The yoga mat. The finance club. The MBA classroom. Pilates. The dance floor. Friends who just landed from Colombia.
Different worlds. Same love.
I wish I could have all the people I love in just one room at least one time — everyone is so spread ouuuut.
Last year (and probably the previous 4 years) I was more careful. More inward. This year I just… opened the door. And I felt more seen, more loved, and more myself than I have in a long time.
I reconfirmed I’m a people’s person. And I sometimes forget that. Soy de la gente y para la gente.
