Hello,

Ok….a few words

I’m Ceri Baker and I’m your new Grand Bard of Exeter. I’m here for 7 years, sitting under the Bardic Yew tree in Rougemont gardens (not full time) ready to get connecting, wordy serving, lifting, titting about with a bit in ‘irreverent reverence’.

The Bardic Arts in Exeter is always looking for opportunities to find, lift and connect human voices, stories and experiences in the city , get in touch, we’ll weave some stuff and make it happen 🫶💚🌱

See my wordy stuff at @ceribakerwords

Brief history so maybe you get a picture of why I was chosen for the role…..

•I grew up in Somerset, Exeter was my first city. I came to my first big gigs @exeternorthcott where I saw @ride James and bought band t-shirts on #forestreetexeter and went to Mad Megs!
•Originally I trained and worked as an actor in touring theatre companies in the UK and Italy.
•Studied BAHons Theatre at Dartington College of Arts
•I studied for a Post Grad in Specialists Dyslexia Assessment and teaching followed by 20 years working and training in Neurodiversity (now known as) including ASC, ADHD, PDA, I love this work, it underpins everything I do.
•I had three awesome daughters , now late teens/20s
•2019/2020 was my full on ‘awakening’ into performance poetry as a vehicle for connection, expression, activism, utter joy! And as said before ‘titting about’, which I stormed into following a medical trauma (see my YouTube channel 😜 @ceribakerflow )
•I was chosen to be the Bard of Exeter 2023/2025 (it was extended slightly as my Dad died during the term)
•I’m part of @spork_poetry and was awarded their artist development fund in 2022 and made a film called ‘Fuck It, Pass the Salt…Please’ with @martin_niebroj which is the title of my first collection with @speakease.spokenwordpoetry
•Trained in @teenyogafoundation and yoga at @himalayanyogaassociation and attended retreats with @subartyoga to grow my physical practice and facilitation skills.
•I flippin love #Exeter and working in community with artists and especially people who don’t think or know they’re artists yet. Helping people access themselves through
