Today was Vet Explore 2026, hosted by the phenomenal Dr. Davis, and being a part of this event again truly means so much to me. 💙

Seeing everything come together reminded me just how many moving parts it takes to create something this impactful. From the beautiful, spirited youth and their parents and guardians, to the students, colleagues, vendors, veterinarians, and classmates, every single person plays a role. At the center of it all is Dr. Davis, who continues to show what it means to lead with purpose, passion, and excellence. She is truly a rockstar.

Vet Explore is more than just an event. It is an experience designed to inspire and educate future veterinarians. The program provides hands on learning opportunities like suture techniques and blood collection demonstrations, sessions on animal care and nutrition, and guidance on veterinary school preparation and admissions. Students also engage in career exploration with real life veterinarians, giving them a firsthand look into the field and what it takes to succeed.

To witness the impact this program has on so many lives is something special, and I am grateful to be a part of it. ✨🐾

Day 5 of our President’s Road trip. And we really “fell” for Southern A&M Ag Research and Extension Center. From beefy bovine research to plant health, SUAREC is really innovating in plant and animal sciences. #hbcu #agriculture #fyp #science #animalscience #louisiana

SU Ag Week is off to a great start. Seven student organizations competed in a chopped style cooking competition using SU raised beef & chicken. Alpha Zeta came in 2nd place, while ASPVC came in 4th! Great job, students! #SUAg #GrowjAGs #agweek

This past Wednesday, @thesouthernvet @tailsofsdrhays and I had the opportunity to speak with the Pre-Vet Club at our alma mater! The students asked great questions, and it was a reminder to us that this journey is about more than just ourselves.

I am very passionate about mentorship and love offering advice — I could have stayed for hours answering more and more questions, but they probably would have kicked me out😂. While I didn’t get every question on video, I did get a couple that I feel are really important:

1. How do you manage stress in vet school?
2. What’s been your biggest challenge so far?

For the second one, I shared my experience with imposter syndrome and offered some advice on how I’m learning to work through it.
