Tonight, I had the pleasure of joining Judge Erika Green, Councilman Darryl Hurst, and Faith Alexander, representing Councilman Anthony Kenney, for “Political Point,” hosted by Southern University’s SGA Judicial Branch. @subr_judicialbranch I’ve been involved in politics since I was 17. Whether I was leading protests in 2016, working to impact policy at the Louisiana Legislature, bringing people together through my festival, or preparing to unite 1,000 women to vote this Friday, one lesson remains the same: The most powerful thing we can do is work together. We won’t always agree, but we can always find common ground in serving our communities and putting people over politics. Thank you to the students and their leadership for having us tonight and creating space for these important conversations!

As a Vote HBCU Ambassador, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Southern University’s Student Government Association to bring Who Calls the Shots: The Power Is Yours to campus! 💙💛 Through an interactive civic simulation, engaging activities, and conversations about voter registration, we created a space for students to learn more about civic engagement, the importance of staying informed, and the impact of decisions made in our communities!
