“Pulses and Resonances” is Rene Lorenzo’s debut album on Subtempo. This album represents a culmination of more than 20 years of electronic music exposure as a DJ and a clear point of view. We can hear influences of broken beat, techno, drum & bass, all through the unique lens that Rene brings to the table, deeply steeped in ambient, deep techno and downtempo. Even though this isn’t a dance record, it’s filled with energy and drive. It is an out-of-the-ordinary album, with intricate shifts and turns with well-crafted kick drums, round bass lines and enveloping subs. A record filled with warm sounds, head-nodding rhythms, and rich textured spaces. It’s all woven into an easy-listening experience, without demanding the listener’s full attention, but creating a landscape that is unique and varied throughout. We can hear references to artists like Boards of Canada, Jan Jenilek, Synkro and the like.

Title: The Nature of Nature
Track Title: Mikan

‘The Nature of Nature’ is the debut LP by Hanegi Koen, the Japan-based creative duo composed of British filmmaker Sam King and Canadian label head Sean Mallion (ADSR Collective). Picking up where they left off with their 2021 EP ‘Well Worth A Visit’, this album continues the legacy of spaced-out ambient guitars and driving analog beats the band nicely cued up for us. It has continuity from their previous work, going even deeper this time, further defining the contours of their sound.

We’ve included a special photo insert inside every album of some of the people and places we’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with along the way. From gigs, tours, frigid river swims and psychedelic tatami sessions, we feel that it sums up this record pretty well 😊 thanks to @harlem.globetrotta for the art direction on this!

Happy to announce the upcoming release of our debut album ‘The Nature of Nature’ out August 19 via
@subtempo records! Many of the tracks are from seasons we recorded in from Hanafubuki 花吹雪 to Tsuyu 梅雨 we tried to capture some of the natural beauty we’ve experienced around the countryside, mountains and endless coastlines of Japan. Thanks to the countless friends who have made this one possible! 🤝

I filmed my recent live show in London at @iklectikartlab and it’s now up on my YouTube and also the audio is on my Bandcamp to listen to in full. Plenty of live dates coming up (see my stories for a full list).
Here’s a few highlights including ‘Harlow’s Experiment’, ‘Maptia’ and ‘Empty Theatre’ played against my ‘hell eye’ visuals.
Guitar loops and slo techno aplenty…

I just wanted to take a moment to thank Sergio @bonjoursergio and everyone at my record label @pianoandcoffeerecords for believing in my music and having released my album One in such a beautiful way. I am so grateful to be a part of the PnC family :). To read more of that @subtempo article or grab one of those last remaining limited edition CD`s at PnC: links in my bio.
