Our very first article is live, and our hearts are full. 💚
In “The Vivero celebrates new Latiné voices at City Lit,” Kerry Reid beautifully captures what this collective is all about—community, care, and saying to artists:
“We want to help you with your art.”

This moment belongs to every Latiné and queer storyteller who’s ever needed a space to share their work, their dreams, and their process. 🌿🌸

Come celebrate with us at Three Queens Bouquet—a blooming evening of works in progress by our founders, filled with bold voices, growing stories, and lots of love.

Join us in celebrating Omar Fernandez, a graduating senior in the BA in Theatre and Performance program, with a focus in authorship!

Omar was recently profiled by UIC today for his impact on Chicago theatre and the creation of his production company, Subtext Studio. While at UIC, Omar directed, produced, wrote, mentored, and championed new work—often for no course credit—driven purely by passion and a commitment to giving others a voice.

His plays have earned critical acclaim, including rave reviews from the @chicagotribune and @chicago_reader Subtext Studio continues to open doors for UIC students and graduates in Chicago’s theatre community.

SUPPORT LATINE THEATRE!!!

Last night, Dr. Jimmy Noriega, Director of the School of Theatre and Dance, Roell Schmidt, Producing Director DPS (Dance Presenting Series) and Gina Ordaz attended the opening celebration of Destinos the 8th Chicago International Latino Theater Festival at the Mexican Fine Arts Museum in Pilsen. 🎭✨

Thanks to Jorge Valdivia, Executive Director of CLATA (Chicago Latino Theater Alliance) for amplifying Latine stories of love, identity, resilience and transformation.
Jorge’s call to action, “attend and support the arts,” was greeted with resounding applause.

The festival runs from October 1 to November 2, 2025 and features more than a dozen theatrical productions, in theaters and cultural venures citywide and in Northwest Indiana. We can’t wait to watch these productions!

🎟 Check the bio for link to lineup and tickets.
