Sundays in Venice

1-2 Boating around Venice
3-4 The sublime breakfast experience at The Orient Express Hotel Venice
5-8 The storied Fenice Opera House. Why? Years ago Bottega Veneta had a beautiful collection inspired by the Fenice. I have many pieces from this collection including a beautiful cuff with ornate lattice work reminiscent of the guilding shown here. It also closes with hinges like the opera house's grand doors

VENICE BIENNALE. Over the years while in Italy for business I've made pit stops in Venice. Typically for a brand event. And while I've always had a fabulous time, this time around was truly magical especially on the occassion of La Biennale, the 61st Venice International Art Fair that has been on my bucket list for so many years. And what a time experience this phenomenon.

As some of you may know La Biennale 2026 was shaped by the vision of Koyo Kouoh, the first African woman to curate the exhibition. Though she passed away in 2025 before it opened this year, her theme, In Minor Keys, brought together a fantastic range of artists which expanded the voices and perspectives at the heart of the exhibition.

I spent seven hours at Giardini della Biennale in the company of three other art enthusiast that truly enriched this monumental experience for me. We walked the fair together and separately. We took in the works and discussed our perspectives. We weathered an afternoon thunderstorm and took shelter in the various international Pavillions from Spain and Australia to Brazil and the United States to see their best in class exhibitions. What an immense honor. There was also a Lisa Bonet sighting. (as expected she looked amazing!) The afternoon skies cleared from the rain and we left under the beautiful evening sun. My heart is so full.

Well, Friday, June 12 was my birthday. And this year has been loaded with heaps of emotional tailwinds. Here’s a bunch of pictures from really beautiful and healing nights for me after lots of loss and stimulation. I’m grateful for my friends who prop me up and make me laugh and give me a reason to go out and have a great dinner. Simple as that. #friendsarefamily #montauk #cucinaalbaspiaggia #birthdaydinner
