The ongoing civil war in #Sudan has devastated the population, which is now facing one of the world’s largest food crises. Nearly 10 million people lack access to food because of the conflict.

1991. Khartoum, Sudan ft. your insta bestie and clearly the house favourite (only photo on shelf). I look at this photo and see North and South Sudan as one family. I see generational living, I see faith, I see home. If there is one photo that represents the person I am today, it is this photo. My values, culture, faith and ofcourse design is rooted in this exact upbringing. Through art, I truly thought I mastered this “Sense of Identity” concept…. but I am no where near it. The older I become, the more I start to truly understand this phase of connection and disconnection. We have so much to learn as a people. Understanding the way we process all the changes in life and in the world and how we choose to grow as individuals and as a community. I have been feeling guilty beyond words, my heart aches, I am holding my breath longer than usual from worry. Praying with all my might for Sudan, Congo and Palestine. May God ease their suffering and give them a life better than they can ever imagine. They are the true people of God. I pray we have even half their strength and unbreakable faith.

All proceeds go to @sudanadlibrary Sudan Art and Design Library - a project dedicated to the creation of a public art and design library in post-revolution Sudan.

The library will collect and give the public free and open access to art objects, books, and media from both Sudan and abroad

In the summer of 2019, Sudanese Revolutionaries ended the 30 year rule of Omar Al Bashir’s dictatorship. This 3-year anniversary piece is dedicated to them and the people of the Sudanese diaspora. To the Revolutionaries who continuously sacrifice for a free, peaceful, and just Sudan. To the Diaspora who feel the guilt of not being able to physically be there to fight for what is right alongside their countrymen and women.

Available in a hoodie, tote bag, poster, sticker, t shirt, long sleeve, sweater, iPhone case, mug, hat, and water bottle

Seen in front of the Khartoum Archeological National Museum (unfortunately closed since 2 years, due to... Who knows) .

However, it is always posible to visit the open air exposition in front of it where several artists expose their jobs.

Today Far Away is proud to feature the Sudanese Art and Design Library . Far Away supports projects around the world that align with the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The Sudanese Art and Design Library is a Quality Education initiative. Quality Education aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The Sudanese Art and Design Library is an ongoing project to introduce and help foster the role of arts in promoting freedom of thought and literacy in the arts in the new and free Sudan. On the heels of the Sudanese popular uprising against the former Bashir government, there has been a resurgence of civic engagement, and a flourishing of the arts. The uprising has also exposed a deep desire amongst the youth of Sudan for access to culture, art and knowledge with the pro-democracy sit-in turning it into a space and stage of arts and establishing an open library. The time is now ripe for the rebuilding of civil society institutions, which had been systematically dismantled by governments from the 1970s till the most recent regime. Once opened, they will be the first source of free books in Sudan.

A few weeks back, I had the privilege to sit down with my friend, world famous cultural producer, political cartoonist, and civil rights activist - the great and powerful @khalidalbaih. We explored a variety of topics that are close to my heart and important for the global world we live in. Khalid’s work becomes even more important in our current day and age, and everyone should go and support all that he is doing. He is one of the most humble, kind and brave people I know.
