As a photographer, I knew I wanted my passion to be part of my @jcdcjamaica Festival Queen journey. Through Picture This, I used my photography to tell the stories of Jamaican women celebrating our beauty, resilience, strength, and the freedom to exist without boundaries. 🇯🇲📸

These images were more than photographs; they were conversations about identity, confidence, and embracing every part of who we are.

As we celebrate Emancipendence weekend under the theme “United in Celebrating Resilience,” I’m reminded that our resilience lives in every story we tell, every barrier we break, and every generation of Jamaican women who continue to redefine what beauty, strength, and freedom look like. 💚💛🖤

To my beautiful island Happy Emancipation Day, Jamaica! 🇯🇲✨

With Love,
JadedJoy 💙✨

Mek we picha dis reimagine the way
our stories were told.
When years ago, we were young and bold,
Instead of capturing and taking control,
The men who came on ships actually found... gold.

The type of gold that enjoys food from
trees and beautiful mountain breeze
The gold called “Jamaican women”,
whose beauty had no boundaries,

Mek we picha we history books highlighting
looks and shades too beautiful to be thrown,
A time when you’d want to wear a bandana
to embrace that we are Jamaican queens,
Who stands on business but sits on a throne.

Mek we picha not having to hide it
Because our history taught us that our spots and scars are just patterns created by nature.
And in addition, our lips were never sealed
Because the flavours worked in our favour
Mek we picha not having to hide it,
When our kinks and coils were never tamed,
For one finga cyaan ketch louse,
So we wore our crowns the same

Wait, you know who mi feel fi laywait?
Whoever decided the boundary of a
woman’s beauty dem ina her weight.

Now the scale would fail to weigh
The ways we balance life with strength and beauty.
Absolutely, ignoring the idle lips

2025 has been a year of growth, new adventures, amazing opportunities, and a support system bigger than the universe. I want to take this time to thank everyone who has been a part of my journey this year. The lessons I’ve learned, the photos I’ve captured, and the people I’ve met have truly been the highlight of my year.

Closing out the year in black and white—honouring the moments, the stories, and everything in between. Thank you to everyone who made 2025 so amazing.

I can’t wait to see the lessons 2026 will bring, the people I’ll meet, and the opportunities written in the stars. I’m ready to tell stories, capture moments, and create even more meaningful work.
Happy New Year, everyone.

With love,

AWE Tradeshow day recap!

In July, I was amongst over 30 women selected to be a part of a business incubator sponsored by the US Embassy in Jamaica and the @yfdnja. We have recently concluded our program and are now proud graduates!

We have learnt invaluable lessons along the way such as:

- Identifying our key audience
- Formulating business plans
- Learning how to do elevator pitches
- Learning how to scale businesses
- Understanding the importance of network and collaboration

The tradeshow was a beautiful display of sisterhood and the fruits of our labour over the last six months. Many thanks to all the stakeholders and to all the women who assisted me along the way, especially in preparing for the tradeshow.

We are proof that there is strength in numbers, and that when one of us rises, we all rise.

Watch out for us Jamaica, we’re coming to take up space!

I’ve never really shared this here… but earlier this year, I had the honour of curating my first ever photography exhibition: “Lest We Forget Jamaica 🇯🇲” — a visual love letter to our culture, told through proverbs and portraits.

Big up to my models, my people, and my mentor who helped bring the vision to life.

The full magazine featuring all the images and proverbs are now linked in my bio 📖✨

With love,
Jaded Joy ✨🇯🇲💙

2 events, 1 night and $0.00-ish spent (we're not counting food😭). @earthhourja and @kingdielofficial did not disappoint.

For context -
@earthhourja is an annual celebration of the earth held in Kingston for $FREE.99 and through partnerships with companies like @uber they promote sustainable transportation by subsiding your trip to and from the concert. It's like they are paying you to attend😁. Yes, there is food on sale and yes the vibe is trancending. I can't wait for next year.

An intimate concert celebrating my sisters was just what I needed, and nothing could beat the soulful voice of @kingdielofficial . Trust me, all the women in that room, including myself, felt loved on for #internationalwomensmonth and running into @r.slaing @shesterryfic_ @deva_deen @iamdonniellerobe certainty didn't hurt😊. Yes, it was also $FREE.99

Lest We Forget Jamaica: Our Proverbs in Focus – Exhibition Recap

What a journey this has been! Seeing this vision come to life was nothing short of incredible, and I couldn’t have done it alone.

A heartfelt thank you to my sponsors, @utechstudentsunion , @thedubwisecafe , My Model University, @trinaleebeauty , Learning with Lewie, @swaymodelmanagementja , and @redbulljamaica for believing in this project and helping bring it to reality.

To my friends and family—your unwavering support, encouragement, and love kept me going through it all. To my mentor @nassanokean thank you for believing in me every step of the way. And to my speaker, @yashika.graham , thank you for reminding us that “Wi have work fi do.” Your words were powerful and necessary.

A special thank you to the @bacatjm for giving me the opportunity to create and execute an event like this. This was more than just an exhibition—it was a celebration of our culture, our heritage, and the stories that make us who we are.

To everyone who showed up, shared a kind word, or supported in any way—thank you! This is just the beginning.
