Snippets from our Nalingu 2025 camp at The Yumba in Mitchell.

Nalingu is a Gunggari word, meaning ‘you and me’, the essence of our Indigenous- led camp, the @yimbaya_maranoa all took part in this June.

It was a very lovely experience to be at Womadelaide for the week of International Women’s Day! Thanks for the Christmas pressie tix, Scottie🥰

Couldn’t believe Digable Planets was on the bill. I fell in love with them when I saw them on Rage in the early noughties.

Will share more vids when I can. So much to take in. The Central Desert Womens Choir, Eleanor Jawurlngali and Elisapie and seeing PJ Harvey again were some major highlights for me!

My sister, Sue Taggart has recently retired from Concord Repatriation General Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Consultant, Burns Support and mentor. 36 years at Concord, 21 yrs as CNC Burns Support, coordinating care with the multi-disciplinary team for people with a major burn requiring care in the ICU, ED, Burns Unit and Operating Room. In 2003 Sue was part of a team that opened the Skin Lab to support patients requiring cultured epithelial autografts.
Her extensive research papers include a qualitative study about the lived experience of burn injury for Australian patients and families. I was motivated by Sue’s interpretations within the framework of Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy of the body for my own research into drawing. Her strong ethics in patient care have been at the forefront long before hospitals implemented like-minded policies.
Sue’s research extends to producing and directing 2 short films for International Nurses Day that was initiated by the NSW Nurses Association in 2009 and 2010 after participating in a NIDA short course. Both films highlighted and celebrated the importance of patient care, and she won 2nd prize for ‘Simply the Best’. Our brother, James supported the film with his expertise in filming and editing while other family members, colleagues and patients partook in speaking and acting positions!
Sue has the high respect from piers, colleagues and patients. On Sue’s last day at work she tells the story; “ It was so awesome meeting up with Tony Pace (he did not know it was my last day) who had sustained a major burn from hot asphalt in 2018. He contacted me to let me know that he was finally back at work with his first delivery of hot asphalt since his injury and that the delivery was at Concord Hospital’s new carpark! So, I had to take a photo to mark this serendipity event!”
Obviously, our family is very proud of Sue and the work she has achieved.!

This post is for those wanting to see some pics of Tom and Sam’s wedding. Waiting for the key players to post of the wedding party but here a few snaps of mostly family. We all stayed in the beautiful hinterland at Upper Duroby. Special weekend to spend time with extended families. Group shots are unfortunately cropped in Instagram.

JOIN ME FOR A RAIN MANTRA MEDITATION TOMORROW AT 7am:

For lovers of mantra and chanting, I offer you this “water” mantra if you would like to help bring on the rain to ease these bushfires.

This beautiful mantra was given to me by my teachers at Dru Australia. Like me, you may feel you would like to do more to help those affected by the bushfires. Besides dedicating money and time where possible, you can also use the power of our collective energy in meditation, prayer and visualisation.

This Varuna mantra is traditionally chanted to invoke rain, to bring protection while out at sea and to bring harmony into the home and relationships.
As you chant, you are not only helping bring the rain but also helping yourself as this mantra can help to purify the emotional body and bring to the surface emotional patterns that have remained hidden (but troublesome) in the sea of unconsciousness.
So Varuna mantra helps bring you into connection with your shadow self- go deep, face your dark, wild side and find a sense of wholeness and joy in who you are. Flow with life. Find the current and flow with it instead of against it and when obstacles arise in your path, like water, learn to find the path of least resistance while still staying true to your natural current, your place of flow.

Om vam varunaya namaha.

Chant in rounds of 108.

If you have a full mala, then this is 1 round and took me about 15 minutes. If you have a wrist mala of 27 beads, then this will be 4 rounds.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN TOGETHER AS A GROUP, then please join me tomorrow (Monday 6 January) on Instagram Live at 7am to chant together 108 times while visualising cooling, healing, dowsing rain.
If you are chanting alone, then chant anytime but it is particularly powerful at sunset. 🙏 💦🌨🌨🌨
