Since 2022, SFS Virginia has raised an incredible $125,909—a newer stop on the tour, but already a vital part of the SFS family. 🇺🇸

This video highlights the heart of what makes Shootout for Soldiers so special: our veterans. From our Veterans Game to the inspiring words shared on and off the field, this event is about more than lacrosse—it’s about community, service, and the lifelong relationships made along the way.

Back in 2023, we were honored to host Ingrid Boyum, Navy Intelligence Officer and Team USA’s gold medal-winning goalie from the first-ever World Lacrosse Box Championship!

📢 Registration for SFS Virginia is now LIVE! Be part of the legacy and join us this summer🫡

We are proud to announce the Boulder Crest Foundation as our SFS Virginia charity partner! The Boulder Crest Foundation is a pioneering nonprofit organization that offers life-changing programs free of charge to members of the military, veterans, and first responder communities, and their families. Established to address the mental health and wellness needs of those who have served as the “home of posttraumatic growth,” the foundation offers a range of programs and retreats designed to support healing. Through its holistic and integrative approach, Boulder Crest provides participants with the tools and support needed to overcome trauma and lead fulfilling lives.

The Boulder Crest Virginia location offers ADA-accessible cabins, each with three bedrooms, two full baths, a full kitchen, free Wi-Fi, and more amenities to function as a retreat location.

Available to guests are thoughtful therapeutic and recreational activities, including equine experiences, archery, art, music, labyrinth walks, and fishing. The area surrounding our Boulder Crest Virginia location property is truly an outdoor paradise, with hiking on the Appalachian Trail, kayaking in the Shenandoah River, and many other local attractions including local wineries and breweries.

Boulder Crest Virginia also offers optional organized group activities – such as barbecues and bonfires – to create opportunities to connect with and draw strength from other guests in this Warrior’s paradise.

Did you know? COL(Ret) Michael “Sully” Sullivan is the director of Shootout for Soldiers Virginia and the former director of SFS Boston! He has a storied career in both the Army and as a member of Shootout. Here is part of his story:

Sully grew up near the United States Military Academy at West Point in Baradonia, New York. As a child, he often watched football, hockey, parades, and off-Broadway shows at West Point. By the 6th grade, he knew he wanted to embrace the academy’s mission of training leaders of character for a lifetime of service to the nation.

After graduating from West Point in 1994, Sully went on to serve in the Army for 28 years, deploying to Iraq five times, as well once to Niger and Jordan as a state department contractor post-retirement. Throughout this time Lacrosse has been a vital part of his life and reintegration into society after multiple deployments, offering him the camaraderie missed from close-knit military units.

Sully has been involved with Shootout for Soldiers for over 10 years, even while serving as an Army officer!. He led and organized events in Boston (2015-2019), Washington D.C. (2019), and Virginia (2022-2023). As a board member of Operation Hat Trick, he evaluates veterans’ charities and determines the best ways to support them. Through the events he has led, Sully has raised over $200,000 for veterans’ charities as part of Shootout for Soldiers.

Sully has turned his love of the sport into a family affair. He has been married to his wife Julia for 24 years, she has been a huge supporter of Sully and his family’s lacrosse endeavors! His children also play and have helped coach at Shootout skill clinics. His daughter Katie is a goalie at Monmouth University in New Jersey (Pictured 4th), and his son Timmy is a defender at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina! (Pictured 5th).

Shootout for Soldiers Virginia is less than 20 days away! Remember to register and join Sully in supporting our veterans and serving our nation! Also don’t forget to ask Sully about his love of Star Wars and the Yankees!

Thank you to the Shootout for Soldiers Virginia Organizing Committee. Without the hard work of this group and the support of the national shootout organization, this event could not happen! Who’s joining the committee next year? #S4S2024VA #shootoutforsoldiers

Bringing our own Army vs. Navy game to SFS Virginia 2023? YES PLEASE! We are so excited and honored to be welcoming Tom Rigney and Ingrid Boyum to the big leagues at Shootout for Soldiers, where they will both participate in the All-Veteran Game!🌟

Tom Rigney is a 2020 graduate from Army West Point and shines as a defenseman. Rigney was the fourth overall pick by the Chrome in the second ever PLL draft and the Black Knights' top pick in program history. He is the second Army Men's Lacrosse player to be selected. Rigney was named All-America Honorable Mention after serving as the team's on-field leader his senior season. He recorded 23 ground balls, an assist and five caused turnovers. The senior from Nokesville, Va., finished his career with 76 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers (he’s also a Patriot HS Alum😄)

Ingrid Boyum was commissioned as a Naval Intelligence Officer in May 2018, graduating from the Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in English. While at Navy, Boyum was a three-year starter for the Mids between 2014-2018. She is a two-time Patriot League Champion (2017, 2018). In 2017, she played in the NCAA Final Four game, defeating No. 2 ranked North Carolina in the Elite Eight to get there. In 2018, she was named to the Patriot League second team and Patriot League All-Tournament team. She still holds the records at Navy for the most career saves, most saves in a season, most saves in a game, and most goalie wins.

Please join us in welcoming these two legends to the Shootout Big Stage and can’t wait to see the action at the All-Veteran game this Friday 1900🫡🫡
