The Interview....

2026 started weird. I ended last year so unsure of my trajectory as an artist. It was never like, a point where I was concerned or wanted to give it up or take a break, but I was pretty down and felt shame for my lack of progress in SWVA.

But then Taye and I dropped “Berglund or Bust”. Sheesh did that change things.

We did a show with Mental Health in Motion at 5 Points Music Sanctuary. We performed at the Taco’Ritas festival at the Berglund Center. We appeared on the Berglund Center’s marquee not once, but twice. We were featured on the Beats, Brews, and Buddies podcast with Dylan Dent, Roanoke Live with Rob & Tiff podcast, the No Artist Left Behind podcast, and the Biscuits and Gravy Show. We were the featured artists for Poems and Coffee in May. We opened Democratic City Council elect Raekwon Moore’s campaign event. We performed in Thomasville, NC for the No Artist Left Behind Concert. We opened up for K Camp and Jacquees at Elmwood Park in downtown Roanoke. Then we hit Rockt Mount with Eugene Woodz and Shavante “Pocket King” Hughes for the 26th Annual Warren Street Festival.

I’ve performed with Almond Flours at Superfly Brewing in Charlottesville. I was a speaker at Virginia Tech with Poems and Coffee. I won Klean Studio’s Live from the 5ive Best Performer Competition. I attended open mics at the Front Row, the Historic Fishburn Mansion, and Hanging Rock Tavern. I was a guest at Lynchburg’s Music Hall with Selah Vie.

On September 11th we will be headed to Greensboro for the GristleLand concert. The 12th I head to Lynchburg to perform at Art in the Market. That evening we’ll be opening the Dylan Dent Variety show at The Blue Ridge Flower Exchange. The following week will see Taye and I again for the Henry Street Festival with Poems and Coffee on the 19th.

But this isn’t possible without Jerome Pawl. And Deep Breaths, Dylan, Amelia, Jay, Rob & Tiff, Ryan at JJS, Lisa and Keagan, Jeremy and Travis, EKGonhoe, Max Klean and the B&G crew, Raekwon, Sullivan, Phinees & Kevin, Pocket King, Big Woodz, Chris Gristle, Wordsmith Visionz, (forgive me if I left you out) and all of you.

We aight over here.

I hope you’re okay, yo.
