Happy Mental Health Awareness month🧠🩵

During this period, we want to consider the close connection between domestic abuse and mental health.

Mental health is not only a horrific consequence of DA. It is a vulnerability that perpetrators exploit.

The intersection of mental health and DA reminds us of the need to consider wider intersectionality: how racism, homophobia, sexism, and ableism play a significant role in whose experience is believed and who accesses support.

This time last Saturday I was setting up a table for @salaam_and_funk’s 20th anniversary gig curated by @mishtidance & @_chillmill29 at @richmixlondon

Thank you so much for inviting me to be present with my art & handmade makes. Thank you to those who brought framed art work, tiles & exercise mat bags. It was great to see other creatives, artists & makers in the same space as the most wonderful live music.

I was blown away by @krupa43two, I felt some cellular shifting going on from her sublime vocals.
All women DJ lineup played incredible sets from @bubblyc @ttliberosis & @janiceholloway162
@coco_vu_portfolio gave us all the most beautiful visuals - of course!

@sonbon1one headlined with her band @salaam_and_funk and simply blew up the house. The joy was immense - I was still buzzing the day after.

This event was very special for many reasons, but above all my late brother @samstateofbengal played there on a number of occasions & it was fitting to have a beautiful photo of him facing the stage. Thank you all that brought a cd of this last album Skip-ij (all monies go to his son).

A massive thank you to @isurupersona @mishtidance @_chillmill29 @davideatwell @sumanta8 for always helping me. It was also very special to see & spend the evening with @manchandapanther thank you the first photo 🙏🏾
