My take on the pool and self analysis:
POOL: 10/10 wave surfed (expert turns setting)
BOARD:3/10 5’10” Pyzel Ghost
PERFORMANCE: 2/10…
In my opinion the pool and waves are perfect, specially to practice over the same wave and fix things you feel you can improve. On my self; I can see my front arm staying straight down, which doesn’t look stylish and feels like it slows me down instead of using it for momentum through the transitions. Both hands up always in a square alignment will help keep speed and control. The board choice was not ideal, it was the only board i have in NY so I took it since I know it well, however a step up (barrel board) is not for this wave setting. It is shaped for heavy waves so it has a lot of extra glass and a little more weight than an average short board and also a few extra inches you don’t need for the setting we surfed. I had it as 2+1 (twin fin + small trailer) fin setup which makes it a little looser and that helped with turns.
