šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø LANCASTER 80 UPDATE šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

If anyone recalls, we have been begging for help for these dogs FOR MONTHS. We have only been able to successfully remove a little over 10 dogs from this property, some have passed , some are still healing and others are thriving, but the ones left behind are still suffering.

We have asked for help, screamed it from the rooftops, with no success. We had started to lose all hope. I guess, until now.

Very recently we received an update that animal control had started removing some of the dogs left on this property. 4 at a time, with these girls being the first to land at Lancaster shelter. Of course we would have preferred fosters & rescues over the shelter but this is the only option. This is better than their current life (past life for those arriving at shelter)

They are not all bad or broken dogs. They are dogs who had never been given a chance at a true life. They are dogs that would have a chance with the right environment and people. They need patience, kindness, structure and leadership. Above all, they need a little love.

Please help us share these girls. They are at Lancaster shelter. Their intake ID numbers are listed in the video. I will begin to keep track of their information as they start coming in and will share a list soon.

These dogs deserve for us to try. At least a little.

He starting to get into a routine and everything with us🄹🤧 was trying to say…

Like he’s already a part of the family šŸ’•

But I know the family waiting for him will spoil him and love him. That Boujee life Marley deserves ā¤ļø

✨ Harley ✨

Our official last morning together … he was supposed to go home on Monday, but I was lagging and I was super busy and couldn’t make it work. So he went home today. I’m going to miss him so much. He deserves a great life, not one where he will be forgotten, discarded and bullied.

He is super special and I will be here for him , for life. šŸ«¶šŸ½

Thank you @roadogs for sponsoring some of his vet care.

Thank you @cronkizzle for finding his people.

Thank you to those who helped us with food for Harley.

Harley update…

1 week in and we have the goodest aging potato there ever was.

Harley is housebroken, kennel trained, ok on leash, does not mind passing by respectful/chill dogs, LOVES balls , water and backing that thang up….

He’s the cutest, mean mugging, misunderstood gentle soul. We are friends, and I can’t wait for him to find his forever people.

#monday

Formerly introducing Harley… he is a 6 year old recent owner surrender. He was described as ā€œterritorialā€ and that he ā€œdoesn’t like to shareā€ …he was not neutered. They had him his whole life , they also had a female. I never communicated with the previous owners but my guess is they were breeders. I’m told they also have unsterilized corsos on the property. I was also told a new family member moved into the home & convinced them to sterilize all the dogs (pending) & surrender Harley & the female, Luna. The larger dogs on property were ā€œbullyingā€ Harley.

The female bulldog found rescue, the rescue sponsored Harley’s medical but were unable to commit to him due to his behavior, which was more than the former owner shared. Transparency goes a long way, & I completely respect this rescue for knowing their limitations, and communicating it clearly & respectfully from the very beginning.

Both dogs went straight to vet for medical work up , & we’re going to be medically boarded while this was completed. This is where things went a little south…& if you know me (like actually know me) , I am transparent & sometimes an over-sharer… Harley did bite a vet tech while at the animal hospital. The bite did cause skin break & bruising. We were told at this point he had to leave the hospital as soon as possible. They still moved forward with his medical, which I am sure was stressful for all parties. There was no waiting rescue or foster, & with this change, we knew that was going to be even harder to obtain.

There was talk about just returning to owner, but hard NO on my end. So , even though I am at capacity, I picked him up & brought him home.

I love bulldogs, but I know they are very sensitive. Harley is scared. Fear = reaction. He’s confused. Uncertain. All valid.

He deserves a real shot at a better life. I know , in my gut, he’s a good boy who’s been failed miserably.

He will be allowed to fully decompress. He is being rotated for now with very short walks , as he is still recovering from a tail amputation. In the first 48hrs, I am already feeling his energy relax. We are just taking it very slow. That’s all he wants

Our first 24 hrs have consisted of not moving much and sleeping a whole lot, but eating and drinking ok.

I can’t imagine what her life was like daily on the #lancaster80 property. The way the dogs fight, she would have died if they got her. They are not necessarily aggressive, but they lack basic resources consistently and there is no socialization or structure. They are living in their own bubble.

We haven’t named this girl. She potentially has rescue with experienced foster. Will confirm soon. Pledges help.

Her poor nails were/are severely overgrown, slowly attempting to trim them down more every day , her skin is red and inflamed…when she was picked up by our sweet, badass friend Carla, she was so dirty and HOT to the touch. It was a hot day and she was locked inside of a junk car with the windows barely cracked….but hey , animal control says the dogs are fine… šŸ™„

She’s cute. Young enough to overcome this. She will learn to live the life she’s always deserved.

Currently she is isolated in my bathroom. šŸ˜…šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø you know, we do what we have too….we also don’t over coddle or do a lot of interacting the first couple days / hours. We allow decompression and do not risk creating a separation anxiety.

Anyways, is it Friday yet??

🚨HELP 🚨
It has been a few months since we last updated everyone on the #Lancaster80 situation. Sadly, we haven’t made any meaningful progress.

Animal Control is well aware of what’s happening and has declined to intervene. In fact, they have reprimanded us for trying to help. After spay surgeries for every female dog we were able to identify, we were criticized for our efforts to prevent more puppies from being born into this situation. We have also been scolded for providing food to dogs that are visibly starving.

Meanwhile, the dogs remain.
Hungry. Exposed to the elements. Fighting. Fending for themselves. Living without adequate shelter, veterinary care, or protection.

So much has been happening behind the scenes, much of which we chose not to share while we waited for local agencies to step up and address this situation.

That hasn’t happened.

These clips show only a small glimpse of the constant fighting taking place among these dogs. Some are living with open, infected wounds. Others appear permanently scarred and disfigured from previous attacks.

The suffering we are witnessing is unacceptable.

This is not simply a nuisance issue. It is an animal welfare crisis.

Animal control agencies must take this situation seriously because the level of suffering these dogs are enduring is horrific and ongoing.

The local Sheriff’s Department has also been made aware of the situation. We informed them that the caretaker has previously been injured and that we believe he remains at risk of being seriously hurt or mauled while trying to manage these dogs. Despite those concerns, they declined to pressure Animal Control to take action and responded that ā€œhe can call 911.ā€

What we need from you:
• If you’re a breed-experienced rescue or trainer and feel equipped to help one of these dogs, please reach out to @realtimerescue (@summerparker___ ) , @carlatoutzinteriors or dm me.
• Email Lancaster Animal Care Center at acclancaster@animalcare.lacounty.gov and REQUEST they get involved and help find solutions for these dogs. They have been aware for MONTHS.
