As many of you know, tonight is my last night @roadrunnerdurham! I want to thank @seanumstead and the entire UV Hospitality team for giving me such an incredible opportunity. Getting to build a program from the ground up was a dream come true, and it forced me to grow in ways I couldn’t have anticipated. My biggest goal in opening up this outdoor space was to foster community—giving musicians a warm and welcoming space to perform, and to serve quality drinks at accessible prices.

With what short time I had, I feel that I accomplished that. Facilitating performances by @hushpuppy.sunrise, @julesthebassguy, and @lgbtqdurham will remain a highlight of my bartending career for years to come, and when I remember my time at Roadrunner, I will be remembering those moments. The reasons that I couldn’t create more of them are banal and uninteresting—continuous failure to advocate for myself, and willful submission to the humdrum of just getting open every day. Reminders that self-improvement is a continuous process, and failure now enables success down the line.

Massive thank you’s to the teams of @queenysdurham and @kingfisherdurham for being so welcoming—@alexespaillat and @emma.butler9 in particular. Whenever I was struggling back there on that patio, I could always count on y’all to brighten my evening.

And that’s not to mention each and every one of you that took the time out to come visit and see what I had going on back here. Homies coming to enrich my environment were what kept me alive this summer—@bartekstartrek, @j0yb0i, @dryzthefaerie, @willrswart, @rumming_around, and @julia.the.ghoulia to name but a few. If you made the journey to the back patio to see me even a single time, you have my thanks.

I’m taking some time now to consider what comes next for me. Like I said at the top, working this gig has shifted my priorities in unexpected ways, and I have a lot to think on. In the meantime, I’ve already found lots of warm welcomes and love over at @velvethippodurham and @theoldnorthbar. Come visit me Sunday/Tuesday over at Hippo, or Monday/Wednesday at Old North (schedule subject to change)!

Got to celebrate loving this incredible human for 2 years this week ❤️

It’s amazing how being with the right soul will challenge you, and bring you up to meet your highest self… allow you to see the broadness of your humanity, and remind you to take your inner child along for the journey. I’m in constant awe of this intergalactic bond we have.

Thanks for 2 years of laughs, softness, sweetness, kindness, healing, challenges, cries, food, travel, steam sessions, stretches, roasting, sweet treats, oceans, and so much more. I’m looking forward to so many more with you❤️
